They point you towards the capturepoints, take a look at he map in order to map them to the pointnames.

Those are on the compass. I think he's referring to around the targeting reticle. Give me a second to get a screenshot and edit this.

Weapon group 1 firing, quick recycle.

Weapon group 2 firing.

The yellow and red squares near your crosshairs are your six weapon groups and their status. Yellow is ready. Partially red means recycling (or possibly ballistic, as it never goes partially red for energy weapons). Fully red could mean energy, don't know.

The long and short of it is, if it's red it's fired, if it's yellow it's ready.

Now, at the top of those in the compass (N, S, E, W) are blue, yellow and red diamonds (angled squares), ~those~ point you to your teammates, lancemates, and enemies respectively. Orders also appear as yellow but their symbols resemble those on the battlegrid (Push :D.

Red, yellow, and blue Symbols (complex looking things) in the compass represent capture points and bases. On this screen, the base is represented by a circle, with a square in the center, and an X connecting them.

No hes talking about around the targeting reticule.

These indicate your weapon groups. I belive 1-3 is the left side and 4-6 is the right side. If they are yellow they are inside effective firing range. If it turns red is is completly out of range.

This is what i have guessed by looking at them during play, i could be wrong.

But i am sure they are weapon groups though :D

Those are your weapon-groups. They indicate if a group ready to be fired (orange) or is reloading (red).

EDIT: Could also be what Hellboy561 mentioned.

Comparing them, Jackhammer's image highlights 1,571 meters, beyond the optimum range of any weapon and his groups are yellowish orange.

Mine are well within range, and are half red, and fully red respectively. I'm thinking at best, it's fully red for firing, and partially red for reloading.

Wow - a lot of slightly wrong answers here...

They are your weapon groups - the left side from top to bottom is 1-3, right side top to bottom 4-6

If the square is yellow, it means the weapons in that group are ready to be fired (not on cooldown), if the box is red it means the weapon is not ready to be fired (on cooldown/reloading)

If the box is half yellow half red it means SOME of the weapons assigned to that weapon group are ready to be fired, but some of the weapons in that group are still recharging/reloading.

Example:

I have a PPC in weapon group 1
I have a Guass in weapon group 2
I have both the PPC and the Gauss in weapon group 3

I fire weapon group one (PPC) - the box for group one changes from yellow to red, indicating the weapon is now recycling, the box for weapon group 2 (Gauss) remains yellow as it is still ready to fire, the box for weapon group 3 goes half yellow/half red, because some(gauss) but not all (PPC) weapons are ready to be fired.

You can tell if you're in your weapons' range by checking the name of the weapon in the lower right corner of your hud:

Red means weapon is destroyed
grayed out/black means weapon is outside of range
green means weapon is inside of its ideal range (full damage)
yellow means weapon is inside of its extended range (partial damage)
