I sure do. Vdek's first videos, and my first few weeks playing it before the heat change, everyone laughed like crazy at the idea, "Fire 2 shots and overheat, huehuehue". Even after the heat change it took people like 2 weeks to catch on that it was legitimately good, if you could aim.

Good times, back when we got laughed at for playing a joke build, instead of cursed for playing a "lame cheap game breaking" one. Funny how the build didn't change, the players did.

Serious units still do laugh at it.

I mean literally. We laugh at them on coms. The word "noob" might even get thrown around.

I am more frightened of a good pilot in a 4PPC Stalker then the 6PPC shutdowner.

4 is a good number of PPCs, and 4-5 Large Lasers as well.
Large enough to seriously hurt whatever you hit, but low enough you can still fit a decent engine and lots of heatsinks.

When I see a 6PPC build I do not fear it.
When I see 2 PPCs and 2 ERs I start to worry.

Again, this is also dead on.

People aren't crying about the Large Laser only because not enough people have taken to using it yet. People copy what they see. If PPCs/Gauss got nerf'ed, it'd be next, I absolutely guarantee.

Every gaming community since the dawn of time seems to want to nerf every single thing into the ground.

Well I'm glad my variation on vdek's 6PPC build (4PPC, 2xSRM4, before the SRM nerf I guess) Was/is considered more deadly.

I always felt I'd rather get 2 shots off without overheating, for 80 damage, over 2 with overheating for 120.

The 6ppc stalker fits the max engine with heatsinks in it. You do not fear it? You are a fool.

The guns aren't the same today as they were back when we made joke builds.

The 6 PPC stalker is scary because, it can still alpha with 4 PPC's like a 4 PPC stalker. Then if it knows a full alpha will get it a kill, it has a huge alpha shot.

Throw in the fact that you can pop coolant as well to do another huge shot.

3x LL and 2x PPC stalkers make me wet myself. 6x PPC stalkers have a big ol' "FLANK ME" sign on them.

That this one picked up a residual liking for quoting it in an affirmative manner.

Residualikeception

EDIT:

60 alpha twice before overheating is cool and all, but a 4 PPC Stalker can do better stuff with 14 tons.

I've done some wicked damage in a 2xERPPC + 2xPPC stalker, with 20 DHS and a 310std. Now that I use the coolflush stuff, and now that matchmaking is mostly matching me with reasonable games, I'm even more successful with it.

6xLarge Lasers though is just fun.
