This Is Really [Upsetting] Me.

My points,
- This is a terrible way to win, cheating everyone out of c-bills, XP, and a long, fun game.
- Also, some teams don't have any lights and therefore can't possibly get back to base in time to stop the cap.
- Let's be honest its just trolling.
Capper's points,
- Have someone guard base.
*good point but no one wants to stay back and sit there. Also, most team mates will question you for sitting back and doing "nothing"
- Should have a faster mech, buddy
*it's the matchmaking system that screws this up. Some teams have half light mechs while the other is all heavies
- Too bad so sad, go cry.
*excuse me sir but i believe that most mechwarriors with any manners or in game edicate at least try to hold this game to a little bit of a higher standard than Call of Duty. Go learn some meta game and know that sometimes all your doing is ******* everyone off.
This is a very pressing issue, and i think that PGI should put in a system where caps within the first 5 minutes have 25% slower cap rate, or something like this. When i backcap as a light, I leave a sliver or two there, so I'm not fully capping...I go fight, and if I'm the last one left on my team, then, and only then, will i cap the point.
Questions, Comments, concerns?

It's just annoying to lose that way, but hardly a problem.
Go hit the launch button and hope for a better match, or better light pilots.

For me the thing with the big maps is people need to adapt and change. For example running a straigth brawler is a bad idea unless you fast, so an atlas brawler is going to be very boring to play. But you can get away with a medium brawler and a fast engine.
The answer is long range weapons and I'm not talking about LRM (Long Range Missle), ac2, ac5, ultra ac5, ac10, gauss rifle, ppc, erppc, er large laser, and large lasers are much better now.
If you can hit your target farther away he might not be able to hit you, or you can re locate or just kite them.
Fast mechs capping points can be harrased at range, for example on the new map, i think its called tourmaline, I can bascily from the middle of the map using high grounds, without jump jets shoot my gauss, or ppc at just about all of the cap points.
You can see the cap points from other cap points and high ground, use them. I snipe cap points alot.

Matchmaking weight class balancing went in on the 18th. Most matches are class balanced. They said it's some 84% of matches that are very closely matched - so that's pretty darn close.
If they're not matched and one team has 4 spiders to your 4 assaults/heavies, what the f**k else are they going to do to win?

-you're a light pilot
-you scout and immediately get half your ct armor blown off by the 6 assault mechs lining the ridge
Your options:
A. play like it's team deathmatch and lose the prolonged slugging match
B. abuse the fact that the enemy team positioned poorly and take the cap win
This is the mindset light players go through every time your team lacks anything smaller than a catapult. If you don't have lights of your own it's up to you to reposition and prevent cap attempts.

This is really simple.

LOL, 8 mans are *good* because you only play against other organized teams. Playing an organized team against randoms is bad for you (you don't get any better), bad for them (they get stomped), bad for the game (less people play), and not fun.

You're a damn *****. You are saying we should only run mediums, fast heavies(I.E. Dragons), or lights and run halfway across the map from the fight to stop a capper. Or we should just sit at cap the whole match to defend it, because that's a great idea right? Lets not bring our firepower to the fight with our assault so our team gets whacked and then we get to defend cap outnumbered. Because lets be realistic, the whole ******* team isn't going to just sit at cap with you to protect it.
The issue isn't people who like to play assaults or heavies, it's the POS match maker. Until that crap is fixed this is going to be an issue.
I know the response to a post like this is "blah blah blah run a 4 man" and I say to that ****. You know there's a problem, you don't want it to get fixed, screw off with your idiocy.
Yes, people try to return to base to stop the capper. No, we don't only play assaults or slow mechs. Pull your head out of your *** before you post.

Not everyone will play by some honor-bound oath. I believe, in lore, the clans felt like you do early on in their invasion. "We claimed zellbrigen! It's not honorable for all of you to shoot at me"

I'm not talking about honor and all of that, I'm talking about being a ******* troll ******* who can't give a half of a **** about anyone else in the server. Pretty much as bad as a hacker.

About 4/10 games I play, a couple Highlanders/Stalkers/Atlases slap on a few ridiculously large, long range weapons that can one-shot me, while sporting so much armor it'll take me half an hour to chew through it with my K spider's single large laser, and stick together so I can't isolate one and kill it; thus ruining my game every time.
See what I did there?

It was a fast game. Click Launch. People may make somewhat less cbills per hour (though the winners will get decent XP, and potentially better than if they'd been rolled in combat).

As I said above... So, my team has 4 lights and 4 assaults, and yours (in this ridiculously assaut heavy tourny weekend) has 5 assaults and 3 heavies (because who uses mediums anymore). You're seriously bitching that my team decided to win via cap rather than be butchered handily? If one team has a significant lack of tonnage, they have speed. It's their best option to win in that circumstance, and most people would rather win by cap than get rolled - particularly the ones in the lights that aren't going to get a lot of c-bills and xp from damage done.

You don't need to stand on the base, just stay close enough so that you can get back if you need to. If your team is all 60kph assaults, well then you're going to need someone to stay back. Maybe two. Or take the risk, spread more to watch approaches for base cappers, etc.

As far as I'm concerned, the moment someone starts invoking "Call of Duty" to make their point, it's a hopelessly lost cause. CoD is essentially the MWO equivilant of Godwin's Law.

with 1-Gauss Rifle, 4 tons ammo, and 2-Large Lasers and NO jump jets. I get on the high ground and snipe almost the entire map of tourmaline and even alpine, though alpine is a bit harder.
There is no magic pole blocking every shot, yes a small light mech can hide behind cover when hes getting hit from 1000m from my gauss rifle, then i just say
TEAM: There is a almost dead mech at EPI someone fast go finish him off, and guess what they do it, sometimes they dont
sometimes we win the game, sometimes we lose the game.
