1. ECM dominates due to the limitations of the "new" vision modes because you can't see who is shooting you.
2. The new vision modes drop my FPS from 50 to 20 FPS.
3. Mount headlights or stop throwing good money after bad trying to force it to work.

Why do you think no one likes it....
Less ppl love the new desert map then ppl hate river city night.

Then again, maybe it is like this already at higher detail levels - I don't know because SLI isn't available for me to test this on my older cards... :/

I think that this map wont be removed because you cant have all sunlight maps, I'll be glad if some new maps will arrive in night style

Throwing in a bad map to mix things up isn't a reason. They need to completely overhaul it or get rid of it, guess which one I am voting for.

funnily enough though i get my best KD or WL ratios on this map even though i hate it. someone said you can delete map files so may be a filter you can do for yourself...

Also if you only see grey/green then stop using the damn vision modes... i don't always use them on the map as they are not required 100%.
Long range scouting or sniping is done very easily with no vision modes on the map.
you guys might need just some more carrots in your food i guess.

Almost every FPS has a map filter, MWO should too.

Selfish attitude! Because you dont like it, it should be removed. What about these who does like it?
The "old" vision modes were overpowered. When the best mode to run around is the heat vision without any drawbacks, you kow there is something wrong.
Yes, on River City Night you have problems to see someone further away than 600m. But imo thats fine. This is more a close combat map than any other. And i love it because of this.
The ECM overpower status has NOTHING to do with the map. Its a general problem of the ECM (and should be fixed/changed sooner than later imo). And i can agree that a change of the vision modes "should" result in a change of the ECM. Its time for it.
At least i cant share your FPS problems. So i doubt its a general game problem, but a problem with settings or drivers.

I would welcome even more night maps and diverse weather conditions - storms screwing with sensors, heavy, dense fog limiting visibility beyond 100m, rain, toxic vapors slowly eating up exposed internals, more 'heat pockets' etc.

I the long run It would cause more trouble than it's worth. It truly sounds like fun to play only the maps that you like with builds you make for them, but at the same time it will provide yet another incentive to min-max-boat-tart their mechs.
It is still fun to play slower brawler on Alpine, because other team can also have few of these, mixed with snipers, lrm boats and scouts. If devs give players option to choose the maps - half of them will become hells filled with poptarters.
How fun is that?

Not only do I not like RCN, I find Forest Colony a bit too dark for me especially after seeing someone post a Closed BETA pic of it where it was much brighter. Too much Dark colors in FC, Summer is when the Dark colors come out and even then you can see better detail than on FC.
Maps without lighting problems:
FC Snow - Due to all the white stuff but I find that a touch too dark.
RC - lost of light shades on building colors.
CV - Lots of green shading a a sunny lighting.
Frozen City - Enough whites and grays for no complaints.
FC Night - Even better because the storm is gone.
Alpine - lots of white stuff around.
Tourmaline - unique world lighting so there are no complaints.
Either they should fix lighting on a few maps or FLIP THE SWITCH for Brightness/Contrast.
EDIT: Vision Modes.
Old Thermal was too good but was also a counter to ECM-Stealth, without it, ECM is buffed. Remove OP Thermal, get more OP ECM. FIX ECM!
Night Vision is BETTER than before.

Well, I was never asked...
The RC - N Map is fine! Like every other map too. If we take out every map, people were complaining about...well
we have about 2 left. At maximum.

Don't confuse poptards with bringing the right build for the right map. Matching mech to map is a HUGE part of the BT/MW metagame. Poptards can be dealt with in other ways(making heat sinks on any mech greater than 50 tons weight 3 tons and take two spaces each would be a nice start...)

Aside from that I 100% support map filters and I also support the idea of adding some searchlights/spotlight/street lamps to create more visual disruption. I also think adding spotlights to mechs would be a great idea.
