Well, its all in the title. I miss the metagame related discussions from the old forum structure a lot.
I would like a place to revive them, so i think a new "Metagame" subforum would be the right place for that.

Vote&Discuss :)

Edit: If any mod can edit the typo in the topic-title that would be terrific. It seems i can not edit it.

Metagame or a dedicated Game Balance forum, as these are usually linked. I don't get why it's suddenly gone.

I am not sure how the moderators can believe the current setup is better to facilitate discussion, I could believe they are better to hide critique, but then, what's the whole point of the forums?

I'd go for a game balance forum, I think metagame builds should be shared elsewhere though.

Wait..... you mean the Mods might not want the Emperor to hear he has no clothes?!?!?!?!??! (Or that the Emperor himself does not want to hear it?) :(

Inconceivable! Then they IGP might not get away with trying to monetize everything and bring REAL P2W to the game! (Of course, Monetization only works if you have, IDK, customers???? But I guess they are hoping to milk noobs since it's pretty obvious Founders were just tolerated for their money. Now that they have that, why actually listen to us?)

i personally think the removal of general was because they were tired of hearing people were upset about something so now they have a very easy excuse to delete posts.

on the bright side ill probably visit the forums alot less now so i might actually start enjoying the game more, ya know the whole ignorance is bliss.

in 11 years on forums I have no seen one without a general Forum. As always I will overcome this obstacle. It is silly to have gotten rid of General. General forums are always a melting pot of topics and differing opinions.

They finally gave up. A game without a general forum. What a joke. Never seen this before.
Its the last in a looooong list of fails. I guess they want us to use Twatter or FB. Or join the pedos at reddit.

Whoever decided the removal of general need a removal from his admin right. This game is becoming a bad net-joke.

I've literally never seen this happen before in the history of any forum i've ever visited.

it's quite remarkable for just how unprecedented this is.

It certainly doesn't reflect well on pgi that is for sure.

Its unique. Instead of doing better QA on their work, they remove the board to prevent complaints and laughter. Easy fix?

I guess this will have consequences for them. People that don't play that much any more usually follows the game on the general forum to see if there is any point in starting playing again. By removing the forum they are basically removing the last link to the game for many people.

But there may be another reason for this: The major new that was supposed to drop yesterday on Twatter and hopefully will be released today is about getting on Steam. Steam go its own forums for games so maybe they want to use that.

Actually that logic is backfiring I think. Instead of all the whine being in one dedicated area, it is now spread out over more forums! making more work for the MODs.

mind you didn't eckman say he wanted the forums to drown in fire? (paraphrasing a twitter message heavily)

Well they certainly found a unique way to achieve that.

We should just have a poll to have the general forums reinstated. A meta forum would be a general forum by any other name.

It is rather humorous that folks blame PGI for this change. Just yesterday, I read a rather scathing Post about what a Joke the Forums were and the poor format in which they were set up. Now there is a change and this is the response?

I would suspect if folks looked into a mirror, it would be the Community and its General behavior that causes this stuff to happen, not the Host. If you invite someone over for Tea and then they **** in your cup when your out of the room, what would your reaction be? (Holy Smokes Batman) :(

Today is a big reveal.

The day before the big reveal Genera discussion is removed. Not replaced, removed.

Something interesting is about to be revealed. I have my MCs ready for Gold-Clanmechs.

IF anyone of relevance would be reading the posts. Which is imho not the case.
The way it is now, it does not look as bad for potential new customers, because they just do not find the QQ and critique anymore.
They think they are better off showing no community at all (and the mood of it of course) than showing a living community that might not be all praise and glory...

If people had a quality game, with Devs that gave a damn, GD wouldn't have produced the hate threads that it did.

(BTW, since you will ask why i am here if i am so unhappy.. i love Battletech/MechWarrior, and care about where it goes. Seeing it go down in flames at the hands of these people is painful. More than anything, i want it to be a success.. i just don't see that happening from these folks anymore.)

They removed general discussion cause people had too much freedom in expressing their discontent with the game there.

Doubt they'll allow that again, ever.

The new forum organization is poor at best. Now everyone is splintered into different rooms for conversations that are only marginally different. The forums are a mess :(
