Been playing around with the the c-bill versions of Air-Strike and Artillery and have had dubious success until last night...

I was playing with my -AL support Centurion fitted with a ERPPC and Art. 20 LRMs. I was on Alpine and I was doing okay raining on some distant targets, when I suddenly got mugged by a triple PPC to the face... Seems an Awesome took umbrage to my support tactics. Thus the "peek and pop" exchange began... We'd both peek out and pop off a shot at each other, he with his trip PPCs and I with my ERPPC or my Art20s... I finally ran out of my LRMs and was left with my ERPPC... Sadly, if I resigned to just my ERPPC he was obviously going to win. I peek and popped on last time and at the same time I locked on a Air-strike. I ducked back and was shortly rewarded a kill as a result.

While I admit the Arty and Strike consumables are pretty underwhelming, this once it proved to be entertaining and viable.

Confirming the kill would require proof.

This is just hearsay.
Not that I don't believe you, but this isn't how you confirm something. Either way, bet he was pissed.

As the OP stated he bought it with C-bills not MC. So exactly how is that P2W?

As I stated in my post which you quoted and only half-read, I said I was kidding. A callback to two months ago when everyone was going "just wait till the Arty and Airstrikes get put in, then you'll see REAL pay2win!"

You would at best see the berm I was hiding behind (Then again you would see the kill confirmation..) Alas.. Not anticipated, no pics. I do have some rather randy photos of my wife though...

LOL! Dully noted... That said, the game system "did" offer me a kill confirmation, thus I'll accept that as confirmation.

Actually... I practiced maybe a 2 or three times before it made sense. Once you figure out where to place your cursor / reticle it's pretty easy... Key is, leading a bit if your target is on the move.

FWIW... the c-bill Artillery is nigh useless. Best it could be is a blob-buster... The Air-Strikes are far more practical and has far less scatter, thus a better chance to hit your target.

Oh, and I have yet to pony up for the mc iterations... and not real sure I ever will.

I would accept these as proof of your airstrike kill.

i wasn't specific so those pics would count.

More interesting would be stats showing how much damage people are actually doing with those things. Getting a lucky "finisher" blow in someone isn't exactly impressive.

For me I see it as a weapon of opportunity / last act of defiance...

Keep in mind, so long as I can place my reticle on, over, near the target I can call in an strike package with each shell doing 10 points of damage. Add to that I can engage at ranges beyond the reach of my Mech-born weapons, it provides a true stand-off opportunity to inflict damage.

... In one match I got legged and was set upon by several Mechs so I actually called in Arty literally on myself... I know a couple shells hit before I got cored... (Then again... I might have killed myself?)

Yeah, I can vouch - over the weekend (Sat or Sun) I got brain-panned by an artillery shot. Bang, right through the cockpit. I was in the game for a total of about 1:36 seconds - it was River City daytime I'm pretty sure and we were lower city spawn and had just gotten up to the collapsed roadway and got stalemated. I think the smoke marker must've landed pretty close behind me so I didn't see it and never moved...

Pretty much just ultra-unlucky I think...
