Well after fighting against PPC warrior online I gave in and put PPCs on my Highlander 733C. I felt guilty but was sick of bringing a Large Laser to a PPC fight. Here was my first match out of the gate

I love my LL's. depending on the mech its either LL or PPC. But ya with ecm you almost have to have PPC on board now a days.

It's pretty ridiculous. I put an ERPPC on my Raven 3L.

What else are you gonna run on it! With HSR the legs don't last long enough to brall with medium lasers and streaks. I was thinking about doing LRMs for lols.

with the ppc being so fast these days and the instant application of damage to 1 node + easy heatscale and fast recycle time and lower ppc heat -

was bound to happen.

In hindsight, There were a few missed opportunities, in the beginning with the single file your head should have been on a swivel checking that left flank, In the cave you should have jumped jet over the rock for a crack at the raven, in the cave you should have jump jet over the centurion. You had a crack at the jenner, a few times on a cataphract.

Prob want to fix your buttons where every group fire is in reach then you can set those ppcs and ssrms on cycle too.

MY Atlas RS has been a bit of an "ugly duckling, couldn`t get warmed up to it...

Changed the loadout today, 2xERPPC, 2xERLL, 360 engine and 20DHS.

All of a sudden this thing is fun to play. I`m not 100% convinced I don`t need a ballistic, but still enyoying the build quite a bit...

Not saying it`s got anything to do with the current meta, but I AM somewhat known for not usually liking PPCs except on an Adder or Panther. Last thing I would have expected is to see me with them on an Atlas

OK... so you did decent (but hardly amazing damage.. not saying this as a knock, 450-500 is around my average in my Highlander, so I'm no "Pro-Gamer), one start to finish kill that had as much to do with your Streaks and AC as your PPCs, some random damage and 2 more kills that were essentially finishing off already stripped mechs.

A nice match, but not sure the point? If it's to somehow show that PPCs are OP or something, I have to say, mission failed. To prove they are finally viable? As a nice all range/long range compliment to your other weapons, very effective.

PPCs are finally where they should have been all along, as one of the most effecctive weapons on the battlefield. That the system PGI implements allows boating to abuse any weapon system, not the PPC, is the problem.

Looks to me like you are mostly using your SSRMs and your AC-20.

PPCs work well in your build because they enable the streak against ECM (and you're otherwise very low heat), but here you would probably have done just as well with LL. Also, as Bishop pointed out, 500 damage is hardly extraordinary.

I think the 500 damage was good considering how much time he spent in the cave not doing anything. He might have had an extra 100-200 damage otherwise.

I think it just shows good aim and high damage pin point weapons are brutal in this game.

or, he could have been getting shot up while the OpFor still had numbers and or cohesion to focus fire, and gotten killed with far less damage. That's the problem with hypothetical is dependent on circumstances that never happened, it could just as easily have gone either way.

Regardless, was not a knock on his match. Anyone (except maybe some uber serious bizness pro-gamer) should be happy with a 3 kill, 500 pt match and a win. Just not seeing exactly what the OP was trying to prove one way or the other.

thanks bishop. I went in the tunnel thinking i could use streaks against the like. When i saw my team wasn't following i turned my butt around and got back with my team

yup my 3L has been lrm15 and tag for months, works quite well as a little lrm mech with great speed and its own ecm bubble to lrm out of.

Yes... I'm running a little sniping ERPPC ECM Commando. If you can't beat them, join them.

Having said that on my Heavy Metal I ran a gauss + 3xLL setup. Changed the lasers to 2xPPC and didn't like it. While that pinpoint damage is nice, I think the chain firing time and overall damage from the LL just suits me better.

My random PUG team just beat a team with a bunch of highlanders jumping and shooting PPC this morning . They are not that dangerous.
