that said, I always help my team, as much as possible. I follow the leader when that is appropriate, I lead when that is. i call out enemies, suggest flank positions, notify of loadouts if it is something specialized(like brawlageddon or support fire)
One thing i have stopped doing is following the one lone assault that is trying to go around to LRM people or cap of all things. I used to try to wingman that guy, to keep him upright figuring someone should so we dont have 85-100 tons of suicide on the team, but I found it pretty much was a lost cause.

Your sig is awesome, I actually laughed.
Then I remembered dragon bowling, and eviscerated my keyboard in a sudden burst of repressed rage.

I agree, sometimes the team doesn't need to speak. And though it's rare, it can be really awesome when you manage to get put on a team that is composed of logical thinking folks. With that said, if you're a PUG and don't get into that whole "Voice Chat" thing, click the link in my sig. I'm trying to form a group of PUG'ers that aren't really a Merc Corp, but just a group that can play knowing that they are covered by the members on their team, whether they like chatting or not.

I realize that there is a skill gap between ELO ranks, but fundamentally, there should be some patterns of behavior. Let's say you drop solo, how much are you really working with your team? This game doesn't make things easy to formulate a game plan. Also, there is only so much you can type to the group before combat starts. So how much do you communicate with your PUG?
Sometimes it works out like when we have 1-2 DCs and I say we go defend a certain location and wait to ambush an overconfident scout or two. Sometimes it's a guessing game. You run with them and it's 50/50 that they will either fight with you on engage or just retreat and hide behind mountains. Sometimes you follow a D-DC only to find out that it's packing small lasers and LRMs.

I've been leading people so long that I've pretty much tired of it and appreciate when people get up the courage to do it in pug games ... as long as it makes sense of course.

i dont want to hear what ever racial slur tickles someone fancy at the moment
i dont want to hear the asinine cultural references.
i just want them to shut up and be my targets ..
but for some reason people cant understand this .
they want some kinda higher level of interactivity and thats all fine and good go interact among your selves.
but dammnit i dont want to hear it, nor do i really want to participate in it, i just want to shoot you, and you shoot me and thats it .

At the beginning of the match I usually type something along the lines of 'support each other & focus fire' or 'any plan of action', if I see a group with the same faction tags in one lance I inquire if they are a team etc....and 9 times out of 10, that will be the only thing I see typed in team chat.
On those occasions when the team communicate, the change in gameplay is astounding...if only people 'talked' more, this game would be so much better.

in a slow mech: i work with my team by hanging back and not being the first guy to die. the first team that loses a player is usually the losing team.
in a fast mech: find and gang up on whoever your teammate is shooting at. i try to never attack alone in a fast mech. i can get in and out of action real fast.. (i love my jenner <3 <3 <3 )
another thing.. even if i type ******** annoying trollish nonsense stuff in chat its still helpful as it encourages people to reply back. and i find those who reply back are the ones that are most willing to work together as a team.
