After trying many variations of this Stalker using 6 (insert large energy weapon here) and lots of other combos of Larger Laser, Medium Lasers, Streaks, SRMs, LRMs ect ect.
I always found them lacking and prone to overheating.

I tasked my self with building a Mech effective at all ranges and to be able to survive in long term close range engagements with out needing to override or take a breather to cool down.
I came up with this build.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...7e0ef387ab71841
STD 300
DHS
6 ML
2 SRM4
2 LRM 10
LRM ammo 360
SRM ammo 300

Now the funny thing was after building it and trying it out of few times and loving it, I had the thought wait what was the stock 3F loadout. I was amused to find that the build was almost identical to the stock loaudout.

Now down to how I use it. I might add i use peddles for leg turning a CH Pro Throttle and a RAT 5 mouse(dpi 250). So i got lots of buttons at my fingure tips and have a lot of fine control over what my mech does.

Instead of grouping all 6 of those MLs together for a constant overheating alpha fest.
I split the MLs into 2 groups of 3 using weapons group 1(my left side) weapons 2(my right side)
This is great for heat management and peeking around buildings, hills and other objects to shoot a big robots.
I also have the 3 MLs on my right side set to chain fire with weapons group 5,
Thus allowing almost constant damage being dealt while i cool and leaves the other 3 MLs in reserve when I cool down enough for another blast of 3.

The SRM4s I have set to weapons group 3 and are great for that added punch at close range. I also have them set to weapons group 6 for chain firing. Use this for when I am hot and when dealing with fast lights so i am not waisting ammo on missed volleys.

The LRM 10s i set to weapons group 4.
They are the only thing I find lacking on this build, due mostly to the temporary missile nurf.
LRMs seem more of a harassment weapon as of now for pushing the enemy back and or softening them up as I close the distance,
I do not feel as useless on the larger maps with the LRMs. (no large energy weapons for me they are all to hot for brawling)

After having used this Mech for a few days now I am amazed at how well it does in a brawl it just tears through opponents regardless what Mech they are in. I am very happy with it,
Some slight tweaks to the stock build you have your self a very effective brawling Mech, which can also dish out some long range damage. I look forward to the missiles getting a re tweak after that it will be solid all around.

That is how I want to run the Stalker ideally but missiles are so weak and PPC so good right now. Quad PPC Stalker is like playing on easy mode. I finally repurchased my 3F just so see how the cheese was.

quad ppc is like playing on easy mode?

Most kids in this game are garbage and think they know what "easy" mode is until they get ***** by a true competitive player.

No mech, no load-out, no "jump jet poptarter", will ever replace true skill.

1. Get a TAG in there.

2. Too much SRM ammo and too little for LRM.

3. It takes at most 16 DHS to compensate the heat of these weaponry. Unless you Alpha all the time.

4. I thought people are smart enough to not put ammo in side torsos.

5. Obviously under-armored legs.

In conclusion: Yeah you wasn't lying about the "basic" department. It's so basic that it looks like you didn't put any real thought in there.

Now, take a look at this.

My 3F is a really versatile mech.
While my other two Stalkers are boats of some sort, i wanted the 3F to be more a jack of all trades. THis is what i came up with some months ago. (when where stalkers introduced?) I didn't change it since back then and take it for a ride every now and then :P

Exactly. People get too elaborate about setups (mixing & matching various & odd weapon types)...

...not realizing that THIS is just like any FPS game; Accuracy & map awareness is what wins games. You want to be quick, shoot, and get behind cover.

Straight Alphas always work best for this. Poptartting/Jump sniping are advanced tactics, rather than just running in and "brawling" and they have always been.

Brawler set-ups are fine, and some competitive games WILL turn into brawls, depending on the map, but in ANY competitive setting, for ANY FPS game, if you try to RUN IN and brawl, you will get destroyed.

You will mostly only have luck with brawler builds on Pub/open ques.

Four LL, 305 std, DHS in every available slot, as much armor as you can cram onto it, and learn where the various head hit boxes are. Heat isn't an issue, speed is around 63 with tweak, and it consistently does very well. The 5M works best for this, losing both arms still leaves you with a CT LL. You can start shooting at ~800m or so and keep it up until the gap closes.
