PGI plan to integrate, quite heavily, other social media providers such as Facebook etc. It is another way to generate a revenue stream. Expect to see some of this integration with UI 2.0 and the 'better' in-game social systems.

I really hope that we are not forced to have Facebook or other 'third party' accounts to access the full range of in game social functions. I say this because when I told a PGI staff member that I didn't and won't use Facebook their reply was "well, you won't be able to access all of the features then". I hope they do not continue with such a direction.

Yeah they can go fly a kite if they think we're all going to sell out our personal info to them and login with social media accounts.
