Wow I'm really surprised by the positive feedback. I promise Ill get some nice renders up soon. And about texturing Id love to and all but I use Google Sketch Up for my models (cuz Im a poor lad and cant afford a decent program and am slowly learning Blender) and Ive yet to find a easy way to texture this model. Its so complex that just creating a skin in PS would be impossible Id love Z Brush but I cant afford it. And to make things worse GSU revolves around squared polygons while most programs use triangles and converting this model to triangles has gone HORRIBLY wrong so far. If anyone can give me pointers Id be very thankful.

Here are some simple "renders" of it I'll get some nice ones going once I wake up.

Bottom

Once I finish up with this 'Mech I'm going to start on my second Fav, the DVS-2 Devastator.

That is amazing work Oreic. You have done a simply stunning render of the Highlander. Well done.

OK, sorry about the wait, I had to leave town for a bit. I got my first render done. After mucking around in kerkythea forever and not happy with any results I turned to YafaRay.

Reminds me of the UEF ACU from Supreme Commander 2.

For the record, that is the most perfect interpretation/rendering of the Highlander I have ever seen. The Blend of cues from the MW4 version and Highlander IIC is stunning.

The classic tabletop BTechjunkie in me wants to pine for the bulbous lower legs and shock towers, but the way you laidd them out just works, darn it!

That looks great, detail is amazing..l like how you even put a mech pilot on top to show scale of real life size.. Now, somebody in the forum here quickly talk him down off the Highlander's shoulder, before he jumps lol. His house is'nt probably paying him enough to pilot anymore mechs so he's had enough lol.. :) Cant wait to see the Devastator pics..

Here is a model of a highlander i made, kinda based on the MW4 version. Ive shown it here a couple times but thought Id throw it up in the Fan Art.

Fun facts:
533819 Edges
223518 Faces
or in other words, way too many lines for this to run as an in game asset.

and cuz I thought I would I rendered an OLLLLD Thor I made a while back, second Mech model I ever made.

This art needs more visibility. Many know how I love Alex Iglesias' work just by the repaints of his official Mech art I post regularly around these parts... But man, your 3D details and evolution of the good old MW4 design of the Highlander by David White is simply out of this world!

Granted the design contains deviations which may displease purists but there are both a somewhat 'noble' aspect to the design as well as a definite awe inspiring power to the ensemble. Probably has to do with the shape of the cockpit (no insect-like head) and shoulder pads plus the proportions of the legs relative to the body.

I can't believe I did not notice this thread before. Excellent job!
