But ragers are gonna rage anyway, they will find a way, thats forum life isnt it?

Most sane-ish folk who read (any) forums can easily discern between rage posts and whats useful to them etc

On the most basic level it's unhelpful to new players, to beta, to the MWO experience to do this

For the introspective moron with no business sense, I would suspect nothing else.

They are so quick to respond to good discussion and topics.

You have 1k posts but have not noticed they only respond to something when the entire forum fills with rage?

I mean they even said as much in one of the ATDs, that they don't usually worry about something until the forums trend to the same thing.

The problem is much of the forum base that was contained in general discussion was extremely childish in the way they acted. They could have gotten similar points across without having temper tantrums. It's especially funny when the forum poll showed many of the forum users are 30+, when you could never tell based on the way they post.

I'm going to give it a few days... part of my usual "benefit of the doubt" policy. I will say that right off the bat it's a lot harder to even track where people are discussing things right now.

Which core user base is being dumped?

I'm still playing, and in the end, that's all that matters.

The way you try to defend PGI in every single section you would play this game even if they would charge you for just loging in

There are people who hate everything in this game, and then there are some who don't. Try to avoid joining the camp that actually accuses posters of secretly working for PGI. It's just as bad as how you see people you think are constantly defending the game.

I don't really like the change because now I have to go through multiple categories just to keep up to date on all the crap that goes on around here, but I can see why they did it. Instead of a bunch of random complaints/suggestions clogging up general discussion, we are being forced to keep our material on topic. I imagine it will slow the forum down a little and make it easier for the devs to sift through our input.

That is not how it works here. The only times PGI responded in a timely manner was when the forum exploded. They created that issue

The problem is when someone was working to create a good discussion it was met with silence.

That could have been fixed with their "Community Manager" popping in and making a simple 20 second post saying "Hey guys I've read this thread and I'll forward it on for someone to look at".

Boom, good will from your player base for minimal effort.

But that was too hard. And now we have this.

I think that if you're annoyed with this change, the most productive thing you could do is just take all your venting to social media instead. If I were them I'd much rather have it contained in a GD forum that 98% of the player base doesn't read anyway than having it spill out all over Twitter.

I've found this balkanization of the forums quite confusing. Let's say I want to talk about what the news post tomorrow is, or impressions of current game balance. Where do I go?

Yeah, call me a pessimist, but this is either one of two things. One is just a massive bad idea, with PGI not understanding how forums really should work. Number two...is them doing this on purpose to control exactly what topics are allowed to exist. With the super-focused subforums they have now to replace GD, almost any post/thread they don't like can be locked and removed for being off-topic, even if you try to keep it in line with the sub-sub-sub forum you're in. It gives them a legitimate excuse to crack down on anything they don't like.

I hope it's option 1 and they realize they made a mistake and backtrack.

Even negative word of mouth advertises the game.

at the moment I just tell my friends not to bother with the game because they will find it a chore.

When/If that changes I'll ask friends to try it out but i'm not going to subject my friends to the current meta game.

Especially as most of my friends play shooters like GO with me and would pretty quicky rise to the top of the ELO rankings where this game might as well be AWP online (sorry I meant PPC)

I was mirroring the way they were acting in the specific thread. The guy in question was bragging about how he blocked me when I wasn't even trolling before that point, and thread had devolved into speculation and name calling. Hence my post about the general discussion forum being useless. Googling 1 or 2 words and clicking the first link which is a youtube link isn't exactly stalking either.

While Garth can be very trolly at times, he does appear to read the suggestions by this post:

But he reads the suggestion forums. Because that's where they look for suggestions. Hence the name. General discussions was a mess.

Defend... Lulz

Rage less and read more.

Funny how when I call someone out on just being thick-headed, I'm a PGI White Knight, yet they have no trouble quoting the answers to the questions I asked/baited PGI into making when it serves their purposes.

I didnt say he works for PGI, and given their laziness i doubt they would hire anyone, why should they in the first place ? removing this section entirely works better obviously.

Im not raging, im just disaproving their aproach in the matter of the GD section / handling gamebalance and bugs. I like the game, i like the f2p model.

They can change the forum structure but they can not change people.

We will find somewhere to hang out and treat it like the general forum.

This is what I find strangest of all. Yes, the General Discussion forums were often toxic, but all that has to go somewhere. With it gone, those posts aren't going to disappear, they're going to go elsewhere.
