Well like I said, if you like doing it, whatever. Different strokes. Im saying that many people absolutely despise it(myself included), and have completely stopped playing the game after getting sick of it in combination with other things.

I actually laugh at the people saying I should just leave if I dont like it. Well, I have. My game is uninstalled. What now?

A gamemode based on capping is fine. The capping system might need some work.

But I would say that there is a general need for more gamemodes. Something like Mech Commander Missions for example... Like an attack on a base. Objetive A: Capture the Gate Control or destroy the gate. Objective B: Destroy the Mech-factory. Objective C(alternate): Eliminate all restistance.

You assume the golds care about MWO's rep. They don't.

As long as their rapidly shrinking little clique are catered to, they're peachy keen. Look at how they're crowing about the removal of the General Forums.

Looks like everyone is complaining about the disbanding of General no just the Golds. :(

Help me out, I do not understand the discussion (maybe because of my english).

There are two Bases and two ways to win. Eather by killing the other team or by capturing the other Base.

I do not see where the concept leads to problems with the whole game of MWO and I never had the feeling
the game mode was responsible whenever the other Team captured our Base.

Why would the game mode be a problem? Is this not a matter of tactics and countertactics?

Apart from this, King of the Hill would be a nice option, but would lead to even more Assault Mechs and less movement, less
game play and more mindless shooting. I would play it every now and then but with Airstrikes and Artillery ... well probably it will be boring after a while.

Don't like capping lock assault with the rest of the assault pilots. Seriously the average team weight drops 250 tons between assault and conquest. I don't really like driving assaults, I usually ride in lights, so 9/10 I just leave any.

Since the game pays by damage and lights don't have the uptime to do a lot of damage anymore, if you see me in game, expect a base alert. If my team is winning I'll come of, if they manage to defend I'll come off.

Otherwise I'll just cap it for the next group of nubs.

The PLJ goes where we are needed.
we like to help people.
even people with terrible ideas
and bad posts.
we make threads better.
Also we try to apply common sense
and speak truth to stupid
and where all else fails
hopelessly derail things.

In this case.
if base is being capped...
stop that from happenning
if you don't
it's your fault.
if you then complain about it
you are either in capable of rational thought
or like unto the noble Donkey commonly
referred to as a Jackass.

carry on
this thread is fun!

Hm....why not a single base?
Placed at random...somewhere on the map.
The capture points are modified by the distance both teams have to travel. (for example Base is the starting point of Team 1....the capture points shouldn't start to tick down for the next 3minutes.

Its obviously that team 1 has to defend that base, while team 2 has to roll in.

However more interesting would be to have a point like theta on caustic....open terrain - everybody that moves to capture that point could be gunned down by enemys.

Capture point should however be highly increased.

K-town rambling

Yes, yes, I know you spend a majority of your time in birdistan now.

Not sure why you would want to derail anything in the current forum setup. Things start off pretty damn derailed already. Not like anyone but us old hands even bother.

I could be sold on a TDM or king of the hill mode provided there was strict weight matching, possibly by means of asymmetrical player counts. Otherwise there's no point in taking anything except the most optimized mech killing builds from the highest weight in their class. Which is the exact problem with most ideas that come from the "just let me fight" camp.

I'll eventually revive my thread about improvements the assault, and caping in general; but the number of foaming at the mouth posts - from both sides - is putting me off.

If sense was being spoken i wouldn't be here.

I spring to action at the clarion call of ignorant QQ, the whining of the uninformed, underinformed, or willfully ignorant.

My personal crusade is explaining to people why being capped means they did something wrong. Personally I disuade enemy tea parties at my base through a clever combination of battlefield awareness, risk calculation, and *gasp* communication with my team.

It's not magic, it's applied logic and teamwork.

yes yes i know the responses: "capping bad, team work bad, just want shoot robits and get mad when they no stand still."

No reason to explain yourself. The Goons never did. You're not a Goon though, so you'll get tired of it in time.

But hey, about 10 people might read it, so there's that I guess.

I'll be right here till the curtain call, and I will close this tab for the final time with genuine sadness of what could have been.

Until then, cheerio.

I sure am no great player myself, but we found out, that if we do a minimum of tactics, we tend to win games more.
Nobody stops you from matching your MECHS when you drop with friends. BY matching your MECHS (say two fast, two slow if you play a lance) you can also go and make a very minimal over all tactic discussion.

And to be quite frank, this is actually what I am looking for, a game where you win by playing better as Team. I really am not so much interested in beeing the best lone Sniper in the MWO Universe. Both game modes allow for tactics and both game mode also call for it, at least a minimum.

To make this work for players who need to drop alone there need to be an ingame VoIP, but thats planned, right?

That does not at all mean I do not want to see more and other game modes. I want them all :(

There's no need to explain myself but i will.

over time a steady drip of water can carve stone, so too are minds and opinions.

Bombard them with the truth long enough something will stick.

(BTW nicely done heading off my "i'm not a goon" speech and I love giving that one... well played. :()

From the looks of it,hang around the threads and whine about a game you don't like instead of doing something more productive with your time.

Meh, we've been mostly civil in the past. Got nothing against you, even if K-town has driven you batty. I blame Roadbeer.

Tangentially, saw Bishop raging against the powers that be in another thread. Never thought I'd see the day. Hah.

Now I'm derailing this thread. Pfft, who cares, back to the booze.

It's true My time in deep space has altered my approach, and we have been civil in the past. i blame myself for Roadbeer, but he's doing the mission well so i can't complain too loudly.

And i must admit i was shocked about Bishop railing, but the point is GD was a cesspool full of thread like this one with a general tone like this one. if you want to create a legitimate discussion start with a title that isn't garment rending drama and avoid the everything sucks tone.

I'm here because this thread isn't helpful, it deserves to be derailed, because it's clear the OP didn't put any thought into this beyond an internal tantrum something along the lines of "I don't like it, I don't like it, I don't like it, I don't like it".

if he posts a big boy thread to discuss the issue like an adult, I'll still disagree but won't give him the PLJ treatment. But even in the absence of GD QQ threads, Rage threads, and attack threads are still not helpful to civil discourse and will be approached accordingly.

Partially agree but there was a solid reason it turned into a cesspool. Even the staunchest constructive thread maker can only spend so much time watching that MG thread (for example) page count creep ever upward only to be rewarded with 'Working as intended, lulz crit seeking'. Don't get me started on Next Mech Announcements, Odanan must be catatonic.

Have you seen what happened to Mustrum? Poor man is a shell of his former self. We all are. So many are gone, never to return I'm sure.

Then the likes of Jakucha and Shillogy show up and tell people they can't criticize anything unless they are game devs themselves, ho ho, where's your game then?

Bah, MORE BOOZE! Must drown sorrows!
