it's not so much complaining about the new map, but complaining that this was hyped up as a "exclusive reveal" despite being the fact that we knew about it well ahead of time, and even had seen three screenshots already

Do you keep a separate indexed copy of the forums at hand, or do you just read and recall all postings? Very impressive.

Further research suggests that this IS in fact the "Big Reveal".

What a load of bollocks.

Please don't call it "Canyon".

Because I've been to Utah and most of the canyons, I don't mean the Grand Canyon, mind you... most canyon are MONSTEROUS in size. I couldn't compare this screenshot of the new map as Canyon at all. Otherwise it would be wrong impression of what "canyon" is.

I'd compare this as Desert version of Black Hills in North Dakota, or just call it Mesa, not Canyon.

I'm a little confused why this map is called "canyon" as well. Looks more like badlands or rocky desert.

A canyon implies lots of cliffs and ravines running alongside rivers and streams.

Quickly! Announce that as an exclusive reveal on all social media sites, then corrupt the video and postpone it by...say, two months!

Well if it breaks up the cycle of:- Alpine Peaks; Tourmaline dessert; [Something else]; Alpine Peaks; Tourmaline dessert etc ad nausium I have been getting by "Random" the last few days I'll enjoy it.

So that's that then. Here's hoping for a really dense forest map in actual greens next as opposed to the dry washed out colours somebody seems to think are realistic?

< sarcasm >Oh wait, do I need to spend MC's to get the vibrant colours like on the Mech paintshop?</ sarcasm >

Seriously can somebody direct me to a forum section where the types of maps that folks want to see is under discussion? I see search is working again but didn't spot one for this.

Here you go.
http://mwomercs.com/...forum/219-maps/

And I agree..we need a bit more colour variety. And since I am at it: During a battle it is not as visible, but in a screenshot the overall poor graphics realy shine through. Seriously, those terrain textures and sight range remind me a bit of TES IV:Oblivion (with a few ini tweaks) ... so why does the game eat so much hadware?

To be honest, I wasn't aware of any hype/tease about this until I found this thread.

With that, it still was a let down. Practically just re-released stuff we already had. While it is a MUCH more polished screenshot and does look pretty, we already have seen the map and know when it is (supposedly) coming out. I would much rather have had a single sentence statement that held some kind of fact about clans/CW/UI2.0/anything else really.

Well yep Jump Snipers will have fun here.
When you release this map, can you get jump jets to shake more when using to reduce accuracy?

Wouldnt that be a game changer to see who uses aimbots or not?

Map looks good though

If we get volcano, full of lava, I hope it would be too hot to fire a small laser without exploding. Just think of all the MG's are OP we would get then :D

Would like to see a map, or a few with water areas that can submerge heavies, maybe even assaults, for underwater combat.

You know what these maps need? Turrets! Big arse turrets shooting at my face! And maybe a human element (don't step on the mostly bags of water).. .Oh, and insta-death trench in the middle of the map that can only be traversed by mechs with jumpjets making other mechs walk around or stand in the open firing at each other!

I'd like to see some more green/colour.
The blue sky is nice but some terrain colour woulder be very welcome!
Please :D
Even if it's just lush green plants/bushes/grass growing along the river sides.. Seriously, please... some colour.

Thanks for the sneak peek..

I think Badlands is a lot more catchy than "CANYON"

I think its good when the only thing a few people can complain about is the name of the map.

Granted. The one made by an amateur for Living Legends is way bigger and way better. But still.

Small "Canyon"? Check
River? Check
Bridge? Check
Buildings on the Ridge of the Canyon? Check
Suspension Bridge? Check!

Way to go PGI.
If you keep getting this at this pace we might end up with a good Living Legends 2 in a few months! That would actually be a good thing!

Ummmm it's an okay map, great for 2003 even, but it is no where near as detailed as the Canyon Map they're teasing us with.

That's right, they're (PGI) calling it Canyon Map, so will I. Seriously, people are going to argue over whether it's a Canyon or Mesa or Ravine? My gods people, I'm thinking Valium or Prozac should be added to you're diets.

I'm sorry, you were saying?

If anything, more like a Mesa... not Canyon.

I'm sorry, [REDACTED]

Canyon
n
(Earth Sciences / Physical Geography) a gorge or ravine, esp in North America, usually formed by the down-cutting of a river in a dry area where there is insufficient rainfall to erode the sides of the valley
[from Spanish cañon, from caña tube, from Latin canna cane]

Just type "canyon" into google image if you need some examples of the many many different ways a canyon can appear in nature... I don't need to waste my time posting any pictures.

edit: amazing what words they censor.

What if this map is an escort map? Escort and protect the train from one side to another. He said that this feature would be upcoming in the AMA. Would be super awesome if it was.

Coming back to that mysterious mech in the distance, I couldn't help but take a closer look at one of the zoomed in photos. While I was hoping it was going to be a Timber Wolf, the profile was all wrong. I aslo took a look at the Cicada angle of it. The profile was similar, but also wrong as the legs were too thick and the lower torso of the mech was off, jutting out slightly. The torso was also rounded, not square. The only profile we have at the moment that fits is the Stalker, something someone mentioned earlier. Here's a photo outlining the features of it. If anyone else wants to say differently, be my guest.
