Been thinking about how my mech doesn't come stock with 360 degree radar like in previous mechwarrior games. So i'd have to buy it but DANG its 6 million extra which means i'll never waste more on a module than what it took to actually buy the chassis unless its super useful. And to me having 360 radar isn't worth 6 million. Well i was thinking about how modules could be useful if they still wanted them to remain as expensive as they are and i came up with a few ideas. I'll list them here and then describe how they could be put together for good use.
1 - Beagal active probe should detect mechs not in line of sight but like ECM should only be available on certain mechs/variants. Any enemy mech in range would also be able to detect you without line of sight as for the large radar signature. ECM would not remove you from radar but would reduce the range enemies could detect your enormous radar signature
2 - 360 degree targeting would enhance the beagal active probe so that as long as an enemy is in range they are detected on radar.(see now 6 million doesn't seem to bad when its enhancing this other feature)
3 - A seperate piece of equipment would be needed in friendly mechs in order to receive this high bandwidth stream of data from beagal active probes WHICH WOULD BE DESTRUCTABLE, otherwise they can only rely on their own radar ability. Here is a description of what i'm thinking about from sarna.net (The C3 Slave Unit is the second part of a C3 Network. Weighing a single ton[1] and carried by the members of a lance or company, when it links to a C3 Command Unit it can share targeting information with all of the units linked into the network. Without a C3 Master unit the C3 Slave is useless)
So if you put these all together you could have the traditional radar ability from previous mechwarrior games but with single points of failure as in if the scout with these modules and equipment were to be destroyed you would lose the advantage of information.
Tell me what you think, i feel like it would add several components of information warfare but also allow for countering by taking out the big blip on your radar to avoid being detected. The scout that would be carrying all this equipment would find himself under extream focus
