They're not bad, just inferior. In any situation where I am facing a comparable enemy mech that isn't using LBX, they have a tremendous advantage. The spread seems to small for combatting lights but too large to fighting anything bigger.

To those with more experience: What do you tend to take with your LBX(es)?

Last I checked, SRMs, medium lasers.. pretty much most of the stuff that short ranged brawling is made of.

I run dual on my Cat-3D (86kph + JJ) as a for fun build not so much effectiveness.

Dual LBX-10
4 Mediuum Lasers
Jump Jets
XL340
Speed Tweak + 2xBasic Skills

Speed + arm/torso twist make em decently effective.

Wait until the spread is tighter, actually I find the spread too wide to even leg lights reliably and I love the Lbx. When it has a tighter spread it might actually become a worthwhile sidegrade.

I put 3 in my Ilya. It made for some fun times brawling. It wasn't terribly effective even up close but it was pretty fun to be the guy unloading shotguns on people. I'd do it with AC/10s but those 3 extra tons and crits slots used are too much unfortunately.

Really, LBX-10s are like a pair of SRM6s that shoot a little faster, does a little less damage, generates less heat, and weighs almost twice as much and takes more crit slots. If you can choose between them it's often better to wield the missiles, unless you have too much heat already.

A friend of mine runs one on an asymetric Jagermech build. He seems to use it to great effect combined with medium lasers to leg light mechs that try to cut donuts around him. He then finishes them with AC20 shots.

Afainst light mechs they're great.

Limbs. Arms and legs, they seem great at hitting.

Atlas DD-C
2 LBX10
3 srm6+artimis
2 Medium Lasers
ECM

Enjoy .... It is essentially a shotgun with legs *shrugs* I love running it from time to time.

I use an LB10X-AC as a sidearm on my Catapult K2, which primarily uses two Large Pulse Lasers. (Sometimes swapped for PPCs)

I ran my Jager for a bit with 2x LB10 and 4x SRM4 (i think, 6 presented critslot issues) and it was pretty marvelous. You cant aim that kind of firepower, you just spray everything near you. Alas it had ammo and heat issues, not to mention cannons being inferior to just loading srm6s and putting bigger lasers in the torso... But i did obliterate a few fellows unlucky enough to walk in front of me

I've got a Jager with 2 LBX 10, 2 MG and 4 MLAS, once you peel the armor off with the MLAS, those guns seem to have fun with components..

The only reason to ever take an LB10X is if you can't take an AC10. That's the way it has always been, going all the way back to table top (bad word, I know).
