Natural selection 2 Is the reason I decided to put money down on founders, and why I will continue sticking with MWO through beta.
Unknown worlds is also a small company that started a big game project with an end goal somewhere over the horizon. The game is a successful stand alone sequel to a popular Half-Life mod.
Natural Selection 2 went through a whole lot of growing pains becoming the great game that it currently is. Everything from balance frustrations, to scrapping what they had to develop their own engine.
Its forums are, and have been filled with the same sort of posts we see here in MWO. Proclamations of doom, glossing over issues, forum factions, community versus Dev drama. In the end it became a great game for a couple of big reasons. First the Devs loved their game and wanted it too succeed. Second they had a strong and involved community that helped find bugs, propose fixes, and act as a sounding board for some of the game elements.
MWO seems to have both of those elements, and though there are more people involved, and the community is a little less close knit I think it will become a great game for those same reasons NS2 did.
