Basically rule 5 is

" I reserve the right to make new rules to cover for rampant asshattery."

and there is

no trolling or flaming

allowed

in the main forum

That is not entirely accurate.

One out of four forums has a no trolling/flaming policy - to provide a safe place for civil discussion. I don't expect it to be used much. I'm debating deleting it. And rule #5 is: "I reserve the right to make new rules to cover for rampant asshattery." This is the Internet, after all, and its denizens are nothing if not creative at coming up with heretofore unseen levels of asshattery.

But if you're trying to be GD,

you can't have a no flame/troll section

You're trying to create a nirvana

where you hold your posters to a

We get accused of being

as long as you do it with a

legitimate gripe and not

Hell, every one of the PJL

has trolled PGI in one form

or another, but we do it in a

way that is productive.

Removing GD was essentially PGI actually enforcing that right.

Plus with the merging of the suggestions and game balance forums, the new Gameplay Discussion is now the one place to go to suggest improvements to the game or PGI/IGP's way of doing business, or to discuss elements of the game that affect players.

And this is a good thing. Because the devs now have the ultimate Mecca of feedback collected all in one forum with subforums, without having to slog through all the muck flung by haters or quitters, or across several relatively identical forums with repeat threads. This means they can see your thread much easier and maybe enact the things you suggest. And people posting can more easily see duplicate/related threads and maybe post their views in said threads instead of creating a new one.

All this means better communication between players and devs, and I, for one, am glad to see a huge drop in "Oh look....it's this thread again...." and I don't miss it.
