Uh-oh, is this going to run 26 pages like the last Dragon post?

You can't handle the Dragon.

The Dragon is the most underrated mech in the game IMO.

Two weeks ago, before the Great Poptart War, a friend and I were leveling Spiders. It really highlighted the underpowered mechs of this game nicely. We'd see a hunchback and go "Ah, shoot for the hump, then we can either kill him or leg him and leave him to rot." If we ran into a Centurion, we typically ran the other way, or tried to kill a side torso that housed his missiles. If we ran into any heavy mech, we usually tried to avoid them if possible, and keep on capping. Another rule we had was that we did not fight assaults unless we absolutely had to, and even then the only objective was to remove guns from it, not kill it outright. One heavy was exempt from all these rules: the Dragon. Typically, a Dragon is running with a Gauss rifle in it's arm... we'd shoot for that, it'd explode, and sometimes would crit the side torso when it blew up. No combination of speed or firepower on this thing can save it. It's a massive target, and everyone knows they run XLs, so just aim for a rear side torso and he's screwed.

The only reason anyone ever does well in a dragon, I'm convinced, is because they're running with a group and coordinating against pugs, or they simply aren't targeted in favor of a bigger threat. Especially in the current meta, I feel that dragons have gone the way of the dinosaur... even when they're moving, I can take my 3D or 732 and pop a juicy side torso easily enough. Either that, or just hammer the center torso three times.

I will be hunting lights this weekend. Calling all Dragon pilots we are hunting lights this weekend lets show them what they are up against. a million c-bills to the pilot that kills 2 lights in a single game.
So says THUNDERHART so let it be written so let it be done.

I really like the 4LL 1c, it's a great distraction from all my slow assaults and its a great all around mech. Can cap, flank, support, can fight lights through assaults.

in my dragon litterally I never drop and say oh no not xxxx map/ gamemode, it's so flexible.

Are my Best matches in my dragon? No, but that doesn't mean you cant do do well with them.

Man... I think dragons are SO BAD

You're carrying your heart in a box on your chest... it's almost poetic...

My 6xPPC stalker one-shots dragons all the time.

Worst name ever for this mech... it's not at all scary or powerful.

My Fang is a sniper:

XL340
Gauss
ERPPC
2 MLs

It's really fun on the big maps. Poptarts hate it because they generally can't hit something that is moving @ 100 kph. But I can hit them. All day long.

And if it gets too hairy, I can just run off an cap their arses.

you cannot oneshot a dragon unless you hit the cockpit, which you can do that to any mech in that case.

Either rear side torso will drop your XL engine, unless you have 33 points of armor allocated rear-ward, which would be asinine.

well if we are going with stupid scenarios...... he could 1 shot an atlas that only put 5 armor in his CT.

I highly doubt the guy gets 1shots on dragons all the time, that would require him be getting rear torso shots on a mech that wont show you his rear torso.

I run a 1C
Ran it nearly exclusively during Assault vs World. Brawling/Hit and run was darn fun and I did quite well.

UAC5
4 Medium Lasers
Streak 2
XL340
Ferros
Endo
DHS

Except for the fact that the "hit and run" tactic proposed by so many constantly exposes your rear torso.

not really. I've played the dragon enough to know how to use terrain, and my speed.

The only weaknesses of the dragon are the hardpoint selection, and the hitbox layout. The next 60 ton mech to make it into the game is gonna dominate.

Except they do all the time. Also I just aim for the side of the engine compartment on the front. I'm not sure what they have for armor but it's 60 damage and 6 weapon strikes (potential criticals) and it definitely busts dragons apart all the time. Maybe it's not one shot? But even with a bit of damage of them they die so fast. 2-shots which is about 3 seconds apart DEFINITELY does it.

My point is that with the way people are loading their mechs and with HSR the dragon is not fast enough for as tough as it isn't.

You said you 1 shot dragons all the time....................... 2 shots does not count as 1 shot.......................................... You also mention criticals which do not deal damage to internal structure, only equipment.

So on a typical dragon you have 60 front armor. That requires atleast 2 strikes to finish.

Your point doesnt matter when you make up crap to suit your story. Also, the fact you can load 6 ppcs doesnt mean the dragon is bad, it simply means the stalker is broken. It can do the same thing to a dragon and a jager, a pult, and a phract.
