YES!!!
I'm a notorious Hatchet Man player.  I don't care how slow it is, and I lose more often than not.  That being said, I have never had a more satisfying BTech moment than creeping up on an untouched Atlas in my HCT-3F on high ground and rolling a 1 for location when I swung the axe at its back.  Some nice salvage in that fight.
Sadly, it was like getting a hole-in-one... an experience I'll likely never repeat or will ever be compared to.  I had that moment, but everything else will come in second.

Only if it'd include the No-Dachi.
Pity that it'll be 3058 before that 'Mech appears.

I think every mech should have a generic close combat strike, like a kick, but where the mechs equipped with a melee weapon or have armored arms swing that instead. The generic attack should just be more of a push back than damaging attack.

I'd like there to be a cinematic scene like in Deus Ex: Human Revolution whenever you perform a melee attack.

I'm going to have to give this a quality "Hell Fking No!"

However, should the 1 in a million chance it be included, I am going to...

1) Shoot that stupid sharp piece of metal off

2) Leg you

3) Laugh at you as I walk away unharmed.

This is copy-pasted from another melee thread. How can you laugh at us as you walk away unharmed,if we have those shiny rockets? :)

A big yes for melee as well, axe, sword, mace, charging, death from above, punching, kicking :).

Obviously it all has to work well game wise, as it's been mentioned in other threads, not everything from the TT translates well, hoping this won't be the case if they walk down this road.

Triple-strength myomer ftw!

Yes I want to see melee combat in MWO, it is part of BT/MW universum and as even dev said;

Melee is a huge system. Charging, knocking down, etc.. are by products of the physics engine. These will mostly likely make the cut. Full on hand-to-hand combat is a beast. It's part of the books, part of Solaris and something we are considering post launch, but only IF we can make it work and look amazing.

Hell no. Keep the rice stuff out of my battlemech fiction.

You do realize that melee weapons have existed in Battletech for decades, and it's a part of the game the videogames have failed utterly at doing a good job simulating- from fists and feet to dropping an axe on your opponent?

If anything, a lack of melee weapons is a failing in most Battletech sims.

Im going to say no because I havent seen an Axeman in game. I like to think there was a reason why they didn't in most all of the mechwarrior games.

I'm going to definitely say yes to this one, I'd love to see an Atlas run around with a gigantic sword or something. :)

Maybe more of close range combat maneuvers like ramming, kicking or stomping since not all mechs have anthropomorphic arms,

Centuries, even.
Retractable Blade, introduction year: 2420 (Terran Hegemony).
Yeah, they existed before BattleMechs did.
Although they're mostly used on IndustrialMechs.
IndustrialMechs, and the Celestial-Series Wobbie OmniMechs.

Infact, the Invictus (Primary) configurations of those all come with one.
The Preta also has it on the Exanimus (Alt. U) configuration.
As does the Seraph Dominus (Alt. A) and Seraph Ravana.

You're right, he'll be running at me while I shoot him in the face. All good 'mech pilots always stay at their weapons maximum range. Even if bearing AC20's, those AC's are going to be hitting much before that giant worthless piece of metal comes close enough to you.

A Axman 2N has 2 LRM15's and a large pulse laser, it's not like your opponent won't be using those and go straight for the Axe.
