I have observed, along with others, that the Hunchback 4P (Swayback) experiences reduced accuracy at long ranges with PPCs and other weapons.

I found that, in the testing grounds, the shots always skew toward the South... not left or right... but always South. This was observed in the testing grounds for Alpine Peaks, Tourmaline, Caustic Valley, and Forest Colony... when I have PPCs mounted on the arms and Hunch of my Hunchback 4P, the shots always skew a little further South than where my reticule is pointing. Both reticules are affected equally, and arm/torso weapons are affected equally.

Sending a Support Ticket now, too.

I did some short 'tests' in the Testing Grounds. When zoomed in, the crosshair moves off-center, depending on the mech's position relative to the north-south line. If shots are fired at something in the distance, they're hitting in the center of the screen, but at close range they're even more off-center than the crosshair.

Kszyh is correct!!!

The Hunchback 4(x)'s reticule drifts relative to the center of the screen, depending on what cardinal direction you are facing!!! I have not observed this in any other Mech chassis yet... but it's prevalent in ALL Hunchback variants

The Brackets with the 6 little square firing-group-ready-indicators remains solidly centered in the screen, but WATCH CAREFULLY and you'll see both the torso and arm reticules "drifting" to the left and right, depending if you face East, or West!

You can confirm this by pointing your Mech's arms straight up, and seeing where the Match Timer aligns with the arm reticule, and by measuring it;s alignment with the 2 brackets at the center of the screen.

I am updating my support ticket now with this confirmation. Thanks, Kszyh!

We found the issue causing it and have a fix on the way. For the curious, it's due to the way we shift the camera forward a bit in the hunchbacks cockpit. The effect is localized entirely to the crosshair - ie, your weapons fire straight even if the cross hair is off.

It should be resolved in the May 21st patch. Thanks for finding this! :(

Yay!

I'm pretty sure this was stated for Hunchbacks in general (if you dig through the threads discussing Hunchies).

AFAIK, their current statement was "working as intended".

People have reported the long-range inaccuracy before, but they always said the shots were going either "Left" or "Right" and it was unpredictable.

I nailed it down, though, to the facvt that shots always go South. If you face East and fire at a distant target your shots will skew to the right; if you face West and fire then your shots will drift Left. Your shots will be accurate if you fire due North or due South.

I believe it depends on the Hunchback.
I noted recently in my 4H my ML shots are a bit Left of the crosshairs.
Have not checked my 4SP.
I forget what Hunchback was shown to first have this.

If you see your shots going left, turn around 180 degrees and see if they start going right...

... Seriously, check the HUD compass when you're shooting and see if there's a pattern of shots always going South...

I never knew it was south, but this makes sense based on the behavior I have seen. It's really a shame- I can't run my HBK-4H with a gauss becuase the accuracy problems make it totally inappropriate for anything pas 300m or so. You can sort of tell where you are actually aiming because the torso twist indicator on the compass is accurrate, even though the reticle is not.

That is the weirdest ******** game bug I have ever heard of.

It'd be nice to know if others can reproduce this effect.. or if I'm just outta my mind...

I'm jumping into the lab right now to test this. I'll fire up my stream while I'm at it in case anyone wants to observe: http://theoosiks.com/stream

EDIT: HAHAHA HOLY **** PROSPERITY IS RIGHT. Every single Hunchback does this. I am testing it in a live match right now.

I can confirm offset sight for HBK-4J. All shots hit left of targeting reticule center.

I have 100% confirmed this glitch in both the training grounds and a live match. I ran all of the HBKs in the training grounds and they all exhibited this behavior. I have also run a live match in my 4SP and confirmed it there.

This is the weirdest ******** glitch ever.

EDIT: I am filing a support ticket to help get the word out on this. I am also recording a video and will be uploading it to youtube for inclusion with the support ticket and to post here for lulz.

What bug hasn't gone South? ;)

That has to be the weirdest behavior I've heard of ever.

Video confirmation that Prosperity isn't insane. I sent this in to support so they know exactly what's going on.

I have already submitted a ticket to support about a month ago, and haven't used my 3 hunchies since I noticed this problem. The response I got was that it is a known problem that they are actively working on. So essentially it will be fixed after launch. In the mean time, don't snipe with hunchies. Heck, take it a step further and don't run a hunchie at all. Doesn't make sense if you have to constantly pay attention to what direction you are facing while circling an Atlas to make sure you hit the area you want.

Yep... In my hunchbacks (4g, 4h, and 4sp) if I zoom in I can see the reticle drift to the right and my shots go left.

Edit: interesting, I didn't notice it changes with what direction you are facing

According to that, it's not just PPCs as the lasers went off center, too.

BUWAHAHAHA!!! Yeah... thanks for that one. Good joke ;)

"Prosperity isn't insane..." hehehe. Sheesh, some people like to kid around...

Well, I haven't actually tested if the Reticule is drifting North, or if the Shots are drifting South...

... but that fact that shots are drifting in a direction SLAVED TO THE COMPASS tells me this is one funky bug ;-)

Darn it, I've been discovered. I built a third Death Star, and usually hide it in orbit over the southern hemisphere since most combat seems to take place on northern continents. I guess I need a higher orbit, because the gravitational pull is enough to affect mech weaponry.

Sorry 'bout that, my bad.
