One question, What in the hell is a "BT cockpit Fairies" ?! Some kind of, uh, "Alternative lifestyle mechwarrior"?

ROFLOL ................ like it
Should have explained my cockpit fairies ensure and guarantee that all MW type activities are both successful and more importantly ridiculously stylish ............. Also definite Beta acceptance ............ any takers??

if you look closely, the keypad does have a little tab on the right side that could very likely be a thumb controlled throttle slider

It's not about where the actual throttle is. A good HOTAS has multiple triggers and 4-way hats on the throttle as well as the stick. Between the throttle and the stick, I have enough triggers to fire each laser and the SRM-4 on my Jenner individually.

Not a big fan of Razer. I have had a couple of bad mice and it left a very bad taste in my mouth. I have a G19 , a G13 , a G500 mouse and an x52 flight system. I am pretty well covered. The system they are showing is a great setup but will it holdup under fire. Gentleman, only time will tell.

Good to see I'm not the only old timer who'd just want the old Sidewinder's back from back in the day. :P

That said mouse and keyboard work just fine as I don't have a designated computer area to have that kind of set-up.

That said IF I could have my own computer area and IF I had the money then sure I could see having it. ;)

For the past week, we have been watching the Artemis countdown, hoping for an exciting announcement that would blow us away. There has been tons of speculation about what Artemis could be. People were trying to decrypt and make sense of the many scrambled images that appeared and many interesting theories were formed.

A lot of people are dissappointed by the reveal.

First; absolutely hilarious! People spent tons of wasted time looking into what Artemis was, trying to hack the site, decode the images and pretty much scoured the net to figure out what was going on. All I can say to that is... HAHA!

Second; absolutely awesome! As long as it works well and is somewhat affordable I will be getting this. By somewhat affordable I mean $300ish, Investing more than that for use with one game is a bit extreme.

So let compare.
Razor Artemis:Posted Image
Steel Battalion Xbox 2002:Posted Image

Hawkens Controller:

Steel Battalion was a controller for the micro manager. Every twitch was hard coded for the game. Cool. But the lack of customization made things allowing. Plus the price tag and space needed to use it. However... you did get pedals.

Hawkens looks very form functional and streamlined. Due to less of a simulator there is no need for a throttle. However I like there are more button options and what looks like a min keyboard. Since This controller WILL be taking up the space of my keyboard. That is a requirement.

The Artemis... looks neat... but its lacking. I can get the same effect useing a FPS pad and a good logitech joystick. Heck the Sieyteck stuff has more buttons just on the controllers. ITs cool, but its lacking features that it needs to replace the area its taking up.

That's not Hawken's controller, that's from Steel Battalion.

I believe you meant:

Isn't that what I put? >.>

We sure thats for hawken. The maker says Mek-Fu. I can't find a link anywhere. And yes, I read the twitter. As far as I'm concerned that just some guy saying its for hawken. It may just be a generic mech joystick system. cool

No, I won't buy it. I already own a high end HOTAS system and Razer has a poor reputation.

LIke many others i am on the fence here. I really dont like razor because of past failures that i personally experienced, but still I really am glad to see a new forcefeedback joystick. I think the lcd is cool, but the keybads a little meh. Ergonamic buttons with a palm pad would have been better.

I also am really worried about the price. Companies are natorious for throwing 300 dollar price tags on **** like this and it being riddled with bugs and limitied functionallity at launch of the device.

I am all for this device, but 300 dollars for it with out a hand sized stick throttle arm and number pads and a thumb throttle instead... This could really crash and burn hard, but if the price is right its a close possibility. I am talking the 100 to 150 and not 250.

I think its interesting how theyve gone about releasing it .quite a big marketing approach etc.. and i suspect that means its going to translate into fairly serious $$ perhaps not wholly justified for the quality/type of the construction.
I've got a G940 i use for military sims like DCS titles, IL2 series etc, with a FFB joystick, sporting more buttons than the above picture, with a split throttle control with another 12 palm buttons that will fulfill the same job as the punch buttons on the above concept picture, and with pedals that also include toe buttons, all with a fully customizable profiler and 3 profile modes, I see no reason to buy this.

One thing i will say in its favour though, It means that the game is going to be more highly developed with controllers in mind than i had originally hoped which is great.

For me to buy it it needs to be affordable, the screen needs to be touch (could be used for commanders) and they need to redo that throttle, the current one is disgusting.

I voted NO.

I own a Thrustmaster Joystick. Its a great joystick I'm not going to replace it at this time.

If the game does flop (Were all hoping it doesn't) Your going to be stuck with 100,000 custom Joysticks. Xbox 360 tried this with a Armored Core game in 2009 and it flopped big time.

Huge gamble on a small market.

On the positive it looks real cool and, if I can use the extra monitor as a rear back up cam throw in a beep beep beep sound it will be perfect.

You be better off selling Hula dancers that we can attach to our flat screens with a mini rumbler inside so when we walk or take dmg it dances

Sell them for $12 dollars a pop I buy it.

Thanks

I for one would buy it simply due to the fact that it has the ability to twist the mech body either left or right and the ability with a better map and radar fumction than in the game as in past mechwarrior games as well as battletech,it will help immensely and the keypad, with eject button from the looks of it,will be handy as well and could save alot of players from a fiery death ingame,LMAO,so will have to see how many ACTUALLY buy the joystick or stay as keyboard mouse players......

I've been considering switching to a stick and mouse (stick in off hand) or something to that effect but haven't been able to decide what I want yet, so this is extremely well timed. I've been waiting 10 years for this game, unless the set is ridiculously expensive, I'm gonna get it.

It sounds like a really cool concept but the price will be a big issue.
Knowing Razer it's going to be quite expensive.
