Glad to see by the poll the forum isn't taken in by this overpriced under functional gimmicky one trick pony (no offence Eridani Light Pony unit
)
Personally am not even remotely impressed with this thing, here is why.
1st I don't see how this is any better than a traditional HOTAS, essentially it looks to me like nothing more than a flight stick plus a massively truncated keyboard, with a whatever 7" 8" 10" monitor stuck in the middle to get the folks in the cheap seats oh'ing and ah'ing.
It looks to me to have considerable less functionality (just based on what we see) compared to a range of new and 2nd hand HOTAS available.
How do you use it to steer?!?!?
I see what could be a dedicated throttle but where's the analogue steering come from???
Word to the clueless .... please don't bother saying "from the keypad"
Are you suppose to use the stick to steer as well as torso twist ?!?!?!
If so seems a long way from ideal to me, there is a reason actual high performance military controllers
very rarely mix controls systems into one controller ....... it doesn't work well especially when the pilot is freaking out due to
risk of imminent death.
Then there is the one trick pony issue once you've invested in this thing and ended up with an average flight stick+throttle a keypad with less buttons than the average NUM PAD has and a gimmicky screen. You probably get to realise you paid about the same as you could get a decent HOTAS for but the Arti is pretty much useless for anything else seriously flight stick related, and that the screens useless for almost anything else.
If it had a dedicated analogue control for steering i'd probably cautiously welcome it ......... but to be completely frank it just looks like a huge pile of GIMMICK to me.
Also as others have pointed out it has several of the hallmarks of other bad Razer products, obviously actual use is the only real test, but i just don't see much to get excited about ............
Unless your just an uncritical BT/MW fanboy .......... if so i have genuine BT cockpit fairies for sale 2 versions IS and Clan $50 each (in dollars as Brits too cynical and tight to buy quality little people) +$20 global postage, can do "Unit discount packs" thats 6 for $350 + $150 global postage (extra $100 gets your unit badge gold leaf embossed on the ponys butts), sorry for high postage but they are shipped from the land across the rainbow, import tax is a ******
