Unfortunately we haven't had any luck with volunteers for a 16-man, so we did this during 3 drops during a match... Sorry to whoever was on our teams... Though we did win one of the 3 matches!

Yeah, we have ten scripts and a teaser written, but they're going to require multiple drops on the same maps in addition to extras, and carefully timed events. Without a dedicated group... or should I say VERY dedicated group, it is next to impossible given the current match restrictions.
When private matches come I believe it will be much simpler, but we wanted to be the first out the gates with something like this. Partly to spark interest from the players, but also to get the attention of the DEVs.

Private matches cost the same to run as public ones, so that is unlikely to occur. At least not without paying some cash in.
I've actually got over 30 skits written, and opted to begin converting the mechs to 3D models I can freely animate wherever and whenever. This allows for more freedom in what's done, too, but consumes more time producing them.

Private matches will happen, though I'm sure you are correct in that they will find a way to make them profitable.
I did consider a rendering option, but unlike you, I simply don't have the skill! Perhaps we can collaborate in the future. I would love to help you. And helping you would help me help myself XD
And, a poke upwards: I'm very confused as to why the DEVs aren't helping out on endeavors like ours, as it's essentially free advertising...

The free advertising tidbit depends. The puns, would not be so much advertising as it would be poking light-hearted fun at their mistakes. (Though the various Team Fortress 2 videos are what drew me to get TF 2, even though I didn't actually like the game I still enjoy the videos). Now some of it that's more humorous without poking fun such as your video, or the ones by the various mercenary companies like The Last Remnant, are clearly free advertising for MWO and I know they won't deny that fact (they even go out of their way to make sure that those are favorited, liked, and have either a Developer or the official Mechwarrior Online channel comment on them).
There's two (or technically 3) things I want to do. Something to compete with these with actual choreography and planned scenes (which would require the full 16 player take over of a match) :
Then I had an idea similar to yours, in which the mechs are the characters in what is essentially its own variation of Critical Hits and Halo's Red Versus Blue, making fun of the various game bugs, past metas, etc. The first two skits I wrote up related to the Spider -- who dreams of being awesome as he writes a letter to PGI for some sort of buff -- and ECM, where Cicada Garth has a lineup of mechs who could potentially be given ECM. Naturally the Jenner gets shot down because he would be too overpowered, but then the Raven 3-L gets one and starts killing everything as it becomes invincible on the battlefield (which even went to the point of starting to animate a Raven drop-kicking an Atlas).
Then the technically third series/idea revolved around the pilot, complete with being able to overlay the pilot's hands over top of the window and make him do just about anything from drinking coffee to frantically mashing override. It's for the various little shorts such as what is really going on when a mech just isn't doing anything, to calls to tech support about problems such as the new override, faulty heatsinks, not being able to aim with the arms, complaints about children barking orders with the new lance system, missiles being made out of foam, and the list just goes on. Ideally complete with tech support gurus that can barely speak English, run you through a checklist of tier 1 problems such as "did you power your mech up?" and so on.

Somehow forgot to reply to that aspect about helping each other. I would like that actually. The more the merrier, I have a number of people that are eager to do this sort of thing, but at best we can usually get about 6 on at the same time. Perhaps we can coordinate with each other.

I'm not exactly sure what you meant by 'The puns'. Do you mean to say a parody style video?
As far as the rest of your posts: I see what you mean. It would appear you are thinking much larger scale than I am.
Please PM me your Gmail address, and I'll give you access to the scripts we have on Google Drive.
Everything I scripted was with the focus of being doable with the current system, and to lead up to the clan invasion. But, I can definitely see where you are going.
I still hold that the most important piece if the puzzle right now is getting a dedicated group. I've been trying to recruit, but it just seems that there is only a handful of folks willing to help, and even then not on a 'full time' basis.
That being said, if we can manage to get the manning, I would be most willing to share drop-time in the effort to get our projects off the ground.
In regards to the Remnant videos: They are VERY well edited. I'm envious to say the least. However, besides a certain amount of choreography, they lack any kind of distinction from most other recruitment videos, or even regular gameplay. Also, I don't believe that a 'serious' series would get the kind of footing that a humorous one will.

Puns as in something I previously mentioned about poking light hearted fun at the game's bugs. Such as when mechs used to float (imagine a solid black Atlas with glowing red eyes floating across Caustic Valley as it effortlessly appears to be gliding through the air after you).
You're quite right about a serious series -- which is why I had the pilot based and mech based parodies in mind. Still, one way to really fetch attention is to throw out an impressive video like that, and then use it to milk in people to the humor. They come for the awesome then stay for the comedy. Least that's what my plan has been. Of course on the serious video side, also baiting them in with videos giving players knowledge about the mechs they are likely to use or fight against will both allow them to be more effective, keep them coming back, inspire them to share the info with others, and with comedy thrown in between, who wouldn't become a regular? Least that's my glorious plan to conquer the innersphere! O_O!
Sent ya the message.

This is ironic in a way. Read through my scripts. I'm basically doing the exact opposite XD Starting with the funny then feeding into more serious. However, at this point I'd just be happy to get anything done.

I know the rest of my team would love to help. Just throw me a PM on details for contacting you or check my team's page for my teamspeak info. Most of the time we're on there.
I think that the more videos we get out there the better. Be it parody, serious, somewhat serious, or whatever goes.

Sounds great. More than happy to scratch backs because getting them is awesome. I'm online at all hours of the day and can be online at night (between real jobs so I write articles, giving me lots of flexibility). The rest of the group I'm with is more night based.
