My last game I shattered a Commando, then a Jenner then a wounded Hunchie in like 2 minutes or less... I know folks are complaining, but well, it takes 2 AC20s to do what one did on TT! I love that crushing power!

I honestly don't have a prob with the builds. They are usually either poorly armored, slow as anything, or have very little ammo. It's great damage vs a few mechs, but it's by no means an uber build.

Yes...I pilot Assaults...Stalkers and Atlases...and I hate lights....but the key to this is teamwork.

If you are in your DDC...then you can jam their ecm...and streak them to death...

If you are in that stalker...reverse the turn and one decent shot to their legs with your 5 LL alpha and they have no legs...

But there are two real keys to your discussion...

Virtually all assault mechs have similar hardpoint loadout capabilities that are severely restricted by the TYPE...

Your arguement about the light carrying similar weapon loadouts to the Assault is not that far off..

Most atlasses are lucky to get a 50 -60 alpha... That light can get a 10-20 alpha...depending upon what they have ...and they can streak laser your back to death....which is a given...

The assault caught alone by two - three lights is toast...unless the pilot is really amazing.

The solution is simple...Assaults hunt in packs...never alone...and call out their targets..

That's teamwork....and adding the in game communications package...like WOT will improve this problem immensely...it also enables the assault lagging behind the rest of the team..to call for support...

And the concept of a pack of lights killing the Assault...is what MW is all about anyway...FUN..

I'm horrible in lights, but I'll admit I'd love an 8v8 or 12v12 with ONLY lights.....and collision damage on, lol.

Probably be like being in a hornets nest!

PRECISELY!!!!

Assaults are not meant to fight alone!! Contrary to what appears to be popular belief, they are primarily SUPPORT MECHS! They are meant to deliver heavy damage to already engaged targets, long-fire on targets out of range to fire back, and a mobile bulwark for the rest of the team, if need be. The finny thing is, you know who else primarily fills the support role? LIGHTS!!! They are at their best when scouting, flanking, and skirmishing, engaging targets already engaged by the enemy.

If you are in an assault and you end up alone, you are basically doing it wrong. Ideally (I said "ideally" here, not always), the first-engagers should be mediums and heavies, who are then supported by assaults and lights. Yes, there are mediums and heavies who better lend themselves to support themselves, but they tend to be outweighed by the strikers and brawlers.

Assaults, embrace your team, and make it a point to keep them alive, rather than rack up kills. You'll likely get just as much damage doing that.

Teams, HELP TO KEEP YOUR ASSAULTS ALIVE! They are usually a huge amount of your damage. Even though lights can carry some impressive alphas, Assaults are a much more stable platform to fire weapons off of, and can usually produce sustained damage much better. Keep the lights and mediums off of their backside, and they will murder things for you!

No problems.

But you know what this means, right? Streak Catapults will be coming back.

Streak Jagers, Streak Trenches (I've been running one for months) Streak Jennes, Streatcats, Streak Stalkers, Streak Highlanders...and my personal favorite, the Streak D-DC

you bring great shame to the 151st ELH.

It is like playing wack-a-mole. You just have to kill it as soon as it pops up. Always watch your teammates back and lights (especially commandos) are worthless.

I wouldn't go so far as to say worthless. They do, however, take more skill to pilot than the 3L horde would have you believe.

As far as commandos, yes, a lot of them are bad, bu the good commando pilots scare me.

i cannot fathom how people still have trouble with lights, i myself am a spider pilot and i wreck jagers and stalkers, thats my job screw this whole scouting and capping crap ;)

a few tips for those having trouble
1) we WILL attack your back armor, buttocks to the wall
2) know the hardpoint placements on lights, know what to target with lasers
3) PACK LASERS! for god sake pack lasers, we cant dodge light
4) ***** the mech, if it is a jenner attack its legs, if its a spider try and hit is legs and back armor, a spider only has ~14 points of armor on the back, 1 shot and its gone
5) pack at least 1 streak, streaks have a very demoralizing effect, one is enough to scare lights away
6) know the map, we lights will attack from cover if your in a fatty do not go city by yourself on river city, you will get mobed by lights ( if anyone played lights anymore ;) )
7) stick with a team, lights wont charge a team unless they are VERY good or bloody stupid
8) never go lone wolf you will get mobed and killed
9) stop blaming others for your own stupidity
10) sh*t happens sometimes unlucky shots happen, you dont see lights complaining when they get instant gibed by a erppc stalker, no you just get on with it and stop moaning

its really not that hard to play this game really, all you need is teamwork and a good sense of tactics

I don't get why Heavy and Assault pilots are surprised when they get ringed by a decent light mech when they do nothing other than try to dance with them. Light mechs are masters of the f*** you up waltz.

1. Back against a wall, rock or even terrain elevation and limit their approach optionsby as wide a range as possible to funnel them into a decent firing arc.
2. Don't get caught alone against a light. You should have been able to squash a single handily, but 2 or more should rightfully f*** your day up.
3. Don't get greedy and overheat. You don't HAVE to alpha them, 3-4 well timed shots and they're dead in the water or damaged enough that they move on to something else.

Shameless plug for my other post: Fix a ton of issues by making overheating DEVASTATING. Increase shutdown time or institute an overheat cap of 2-4 before being destroyed, etc. Make people manage that resource!

Many heavy mechs seem to see this

And then procede to act on this mindset

And then when they make the mistake of chasing off on their own after it, with a build kitted out to fight assaults on a firing line end up in this situation.
