This post is bad, hth.

I agree, but a necessary accommodation of a guest staying in the PLJ thread.

This expectation was demanded by said visitor and through an act of kindness I took pity and decided to enter into a chain of discourse despite the occasional miss placed critical remark or belligerent attitude demonstrated at times.

I apologise if some people are not appreciating our conversation but I understood from previous moderation based on Crypto's needs to address this subject here people would be able to best regulate their involvement. This despite a suggestion I made of it being framed in a more appreciable environment where interested pilots could choose to regulate their involvement.

Though maybe as a result of equality and trying to being hospitable to the newer guests I should follow their social conventions in order to best represent good social functioning, oh the dilema? This would mean I might have to stop my discourse with Crypto which is a shame really as I was really enjoying the stimulus and don't personally feel the need or purpose of demonstrating the other form of behaviour without good reason anyhow.

I will have to give this some thought, unless any further confirmations and words of equal superior wisdom can help me decide my best course of action. I won't use moral or ethical conventions of course now since apparently I'm an irrational actor based on my environment.

The biggest obstacle I will have to face in this contemplation is that if I were to exercise a lack of social restraint I would likely demonstrate behaviour that would go outside understood protocols of acceptable posting and the CoC and potentially lose my right to pilot big stompy robots, and I really like doing this.

So maybe we should coin a new term known as "Mechical" conventions were motivations are inspired by a desire to retain flight status?

Pretend for a second that

the society in which you live is an MMO

Social norms are

like the meta game

of that MMO in which you live.

Different MMO's have different metas

though they are all populated by human beings

and the MMO's may share similarities

the approach of the players with in a game is going to be colored by the

meta in which they learned to play.

You may think the MMO they play is bad

or the rules of their meta nonsensical

but you cannot properly judge that with out actually

immersing yourself in that game or Meta to understand it's mechanics.

There are exceptions things that are almost universally understood to be bad mechanics

in an MMO

or bad practices that a Meta is built on

but even those may not be recognized as such by those on the inside of that MMO or Meta.

At the end of the day though

you can only deal with a meta in three ways

embrace it

try to change it

or leave the game.

Yeah. Ever been to a Tractor Pull or a Road Race or a World of Outlaws race? You get a huge wall of sound. It may make you deaf....but hearing the sound of those engines is totally worth it.

My surfboard is now being waxed as we speak.

I wish Crypto every success with the admirable pursuit of raising awareness to social issues.

Surfs up!!!

Well I thought about it a bit and decided I'm not going to go read the thread. Instead I'm just going to declare it bad and possibly shameful

a lot of sentences that are confusing to read

friend Noesis i really would like to engage in a dialogue with you, and please, i mean this in a way which is as inoffensive as possible, but what you're typing is tremendously difficult to parse. whether this inability to put coherent thoughts into words is as a result of a failing in your ability to use language or because you don't really understand what you're talking about is something i just don't know, and either one of those things is perfectly okay and I'm not judging you for it i promise !

maybe we should try a different tactic here ?

if you could do me a favour and restate your argument in a more concise way i think that would help !

try prefacing it with something like "basically, my entire point is this:"

here, i will give you an example:

basically, my entire point is this: human beings' thoughts and attitudes and therefore their actions are influenced from birth, and throughout their lives, by society. society is the relationship between human beings and their culture and institutions. i put forth the argument that racism, sexism, queerphobia and transphobia, and other types of discriminatory attitudes are systemic in our culture and institutions.

because of this, the thoughts and attitudes of everyone in our society are influenced by these problematic attitudes. therefore, a racist joke is not a huge societal issue in and of itself, but because this instance and uncountable others like it do not exist in isolation and instead exist as a part of society, they all contribute to racist (etc.) ideas and attitudes and thus racist (etc.) actions. and my point is that this is bad.
