when we discuss things like "people who make racist jokes are contributing to a culture of racism" we are talking in generalities !

a culture in which racism is systemic is one in which on the whole racist attitudes are accepted and often encouraged. now this isn't to say that we live in a culture in which eugenics and "the deliberate and systematic destruction of, in whole or in part, of an ethnic, racial, religious, or national group" (forums censor the word that this is the definition for ? very telling i should think, very telling indeed ) and burning crosses and things like that are encouraged, that's silly, you can see that that isn't the case by Being Conscious. however ! the reality of Reality is that things like Making Jokes About Middle Eastern People Being Terrorists and things like Doing A Funny Foreign Accent and things like Black People Talk Like This And Asian People Talk Like This is totally okay and it's just jokes and don't you get it man? it's just a joke ahahaha. Things like that are Totally Okay Because It's Just A Joke.

it's a culture in which Laughing At People Who Are Different is accepted as the norm, and that provides a framework and a foundation for more immediately harmful expressions of racism such as We All Beat Up That Black Guy Because He Looked Like That Criminal We Saw On TV or Minority Group X Represents A Disproportionate Number Of People In Our Prisons But That's Okay Because X People Are Pretty Much All Criminals Anyway.

turns 'Lerian' in to it's own word is

actually a stylistic choice based on

a post exchange about how

it should be pronounced,

it is a functional phonetic device

but we ran with it

as it allows us

a valid three letter acronym

which all great organizations

of questionable purpose need.

are usually compensating

for their own racism, even

it's a good thing you arrived to set everyone straight friend, because here i was thinking that the reason i was bothered by racism in the media was because i was genuinely concerned about the well-being of my fellow human beings, but as it turns out, it is me who is the real racist ! that's great because it's so much simpler !

anyway another thing about your post jumped out at me as well and that was when you referred to your experience! how exciting ! would you mind expanding on those experiences ? do you think you could share an anecdote with the rest of us about when you experienced someone arguing against instances of racism and it turned out that that person was just doing it to cover up their own racist thoughts and feelings ? if you could that would be swell !

also i'd have to say that i disagree with your parting words as well friend roadbeer! as it happens, Humans Dying is A Bad Thing and so I don't really like to see dead people of any type at all ! it's pretty sad when A Person Dies In Real Life No Matter Who They Are ! i feel these feelings because of Sympathy For Other People.
