well, i agree...but, with the uproar over 3rd Person I would want to phrase it something else as well...UAV module sounds much more palatable than 3rd Person, which I'm all for btw...

I really don't think he's hiding '3rd person' behind 'UAV.' He's referring to the UAV at around 30 seconds into this video

Plus 3rd Person as a consumable doesn't make any sense with what they've already said about 3rd person. They discussed having 3rd person players only play with other 3rd person players. So if you equip a UAV (3rd person) you get into a separate queue with only people who have a UAV (3rd person) in a module slot? Just doesn't make sense to me.

Agree. And besides; UI 2.0 is the code word for introducing 3rd person.

Does UI 2.0 include a total rework of the mechlab front end and the 'in game' social system?

I really want to know what we are getting in terms of in game social functions and whether they are going to be outsourced to third party providers such as facebook or even C3.

Yeah if the 3rd person is not implemented as an completely different game from those of us playing 1st person then it will be a game breaker. Your not supposed to be able to see over a hill if you cant see over the hill....The fact that people are even asking for this or that PGI is implementing it is ridiculous, its not meant to be 3rd person. PGI should really focus on things that matter...like community warfare, clan invasion, rebalace of useless weapons...you know things the religious players actually care about. Like if you think 3rd person is an abomination!!!(in mech warrior)

THat's a pity if they're using the 2009 model for the UAV, that was the worst part of it IMO.

As for using the UAVs to implement 3rd person view. That's the best possible method, and if it's time limited, then it doesn't kill the game. If UAVs can't move, can only hover in place, then they're not broken.

I don't see a problem with using them that way. I don't have a problem with 3rd person itself if it makes sense (ie is only while using a UAV), and isn't overpowered, this might be ok.

It would be really cool if you can shoot them down though. (Ten to one you can't :P )

By your scale the Centurion stands around 100 feet tall (30-ish meters).

Depending on where you source, an Atlas stands around 13 to 16 meters tall.
