One of my guildmates typed "OMG!!! ALT + F4 for third person mode!" at the start of a match a few days ago, and like 4 people DCd. That's how you learn, I guess.

When the Atlas, the Phoenix Battlemaster, or even the upcoming Cyclops can allow an addition mechwarrior to actually ride along in the command module, then you will have someone in a 'command seat' coordinating Lances and calling out commands to the whole Company - imagine that... actual tactics and teamwork? The sooner they add this feature the better I say. These C3-variant mechs would take team tactics to a whole new level.

Actual answer: It currently does nothing.
Possible future answers: It may add a module slot or extra use of consumables, but that's just me tossing out ideas that would be easy to implement.
Humorous answers:
- You need one to access UI2.0.
- You can take control of all mechs on your team with it
- It lets you issue commands in a funny voice
- It lets you demonstrate the power of this fully functional battlestation.
- It lets you access 5th person viewpoint.

it was required to match the canon loadout of the d-dc, but has no other effect.

Here's a few ideas: what if the command console coordinated artilary and air strikes, or possibly give the cc user enemy battlemech info when on the battlemap, or allow other mechs priority targeting when using lrms and ssrms? With three tons, it should do something worthwile.
