Since this poll is overwhelmingly against a k/d hologram, PGI will devote all their resources to saying it wont happen and then explain to us why we're too stupid to understand why its such an in game success when they spring it on us.

And if your a horrible pilot with 100 kills and 100,000 deaths you want someone else to see that in there cockpit in spectate? It would make them feel bad if someone else trashed them out fo underperformance.

Nope. No need to have this. Hologram of your House I understand, but I don't think a kill/death ratio indicator is needed. Just fosters the COD "elite" mentality, where the individual is more important than the team. No thanks.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

...pilots have been scrawling kill counts on their hulls since they invented the tally mark.

I think it's totally congruous with the game meta.

no one is intrested/wants to pay(yes we are articulating our intrest in paying for it, and those, who have nothing to pay for it, got to have no intrest - whats not only sarcasm, but the ******* trueth!), so let it be!

I wouldn't pay money for either of these because my score is rather horrid.

That said, we've got all those monitors in our mechs that display absolutely nothing right now. That would be right at home on one of those.

Had a just under 800dmg run today, but only got one kill.

Why? Because my stupid *** team mates stayed behind for me to rip their armor of, and not only place the killing shot, but actually move in in front of me, preventing me from shoting, just to get the kill.

One of them, piloting an atlas actually (I piloted a phract) did this 3 times, getting 3 kills and 120dmg.

So why do I write this? Well, K/D in this game is actually pretty useless. One could use total dmg done vs received, but even that will not directly reflect skills, as pinpoint dmg with gauss or what ever can get you kills pretty fast, but with less damage per kill than an LRM60 boat with 2000 missiles.

In short, none of these numbers actually say much about skills.

NO OH NOO NO NO NO NO!!! The LAST thing we need is people treating this like COD. There are enough people who just sit powered down waiting and Praying that there team wins just so they can keep there 'K/D' up. That's Not the point of MechWarrior! The whole point of the game is to Blast stuff in Massive Walking tanks! Yes. people care about K/D, But having it broadcasted like that just turns this into Mech-COD.

I voted yes for kill/death & kills/assists holograms

BUT
The reasons why some have such good kill death ratios are very bad
1 Sacrificing other team members while you hold back, never spotting for the team.
2 Abusing every over powered racket & loophole in the game, until closed
3 Living in Canada and getting the drop on everyone with a bad lag
4 Disconnecting at point of death or at start (if a man down) to preserve the KD ratio
5 Running only in premade teams where there is a much lower newb pairing risk, you can enjoy Voice Commination advantages, & you can drop with a custom lance made to complement each other.
6 Never running a medium mech and hardly ever seen outside an Assault mech.
7 …

Also add an epeen enlargement set to the "BASIC" set and an epeen pump to the "ADVANCED" set. Seems to be needed by these poor fellas...

We don't need more reasons for people to be non-team players.

I would always prefer to have teammates who have good K/D ratios.

People with garbage K/D tend to be garbage players.

This game is literally nothing more than an epeen contest.

People that spend their time worrying about K/D ratios tend to be shit team mates that only worry about their own K/D..... aka garbage players.

Which is the best type of person to have on your team.

If you are bad at killing mechs, then you are a bad teammate.

Because the point of this game is to kill mechs.

Not true dude. I'm a support player, My general role is to fire LRM's, lasers and such well allowing my heavyer brothers to dish out as much damage as possible well the enemy team is ducking from my rain of fire. Just because you don't get the kill doesn't mean your a bad player.

If you have a bad K/D, it means you die more often than you kill mechs.

It means you are a bad player. Good players don't have negative K/D's, ever.

Even when playing "support roles", in those cases then you should be dying less... So the end result would STILL be a positive K/D. You might have less kills per game than a high alpha striking mech, but you should still being dying less than you are killing.

K/D Counter: Nope Nope Nope
-If you want to achieve any sense of immersion, KDR within the game's world cannot exist. Cloning/respawn/regeneration/raising pilots from the dead isn't a thing in MWO. Forums? Suuuure. Online profile? Suureeee. In-game? Nope.

Kill Counter: Yup
-This has been done by many pilots, and would be pretty cool. But this would require a dynamic cockpit item model that would have to change when you got a kill. I can see lots of bugs here, and a possibility that it will never even happen.

Heh. A kill counter decal on your mech for each kill scored in that mech would be kind of cool.

Ain't there a "kill counter" in the cockpit already? Does it do anything?

Either way; "Time piloted this mech" would be a good stat to have.
Even better: "Missions successful" for all variants of that chassis. That way people are encouraged to help win the game and pilot their favorite mech the best they can.
