The premise for this thread is: what' is your best and worst mech, measured by whatever quality you consider important when you're playing?

Some people worry more about their kill-death ratio, others play to win the match by whatever means necessary, so they care more about win-lose ratio. Other people might be more concerned with their damage, or perhaps even no tangible statistic at all. Whatever your goal is, I want to know which mech is your best one, and which mech is your worst one.

IMPORTANT: Please disregard mechs that you've played less than 25 matches with. For
example, in my first 4 matches with the Atlas RS, I had a KDR of 11.0. As you can imagine, it was pretty hard to maintain that ratio as I played more games. So I'm interested in mechs that you've played 25 matches with, or more

Here's my best and worst mechs

My best mech: Jenner

My worst mech: Everything else. Seriously, if it doesn't break 100 kph I might as well be a free kill.

Also, if you only go by mechs with more than 25 matches....that pretty much excludes every mech but my jenners, lol.

*checks*

Nope, I have one other mech with more than 25 matches, the catapult C1 Founders with 38...so I guess that's my worst...

Meanwhile, 849 matches in Jenners, 113 combined for all other mechs.

Problem with the poll is that my best (well... based on fun, not statistics) and my worst (based on everything) are the same chassis; but two different variants. The Spider. That ballistic version is just terrible. Utter garbage. But I love the other two.

My worst mech (by stats): Muromets  :P

Just vote on the Spider both times then, it's not a problem. The problem with the poll is that I can only make 20 alternatives for each question. And I didn't want to make people scroll down a kilometer to get to the actual content of the thread.

I never understand how some people are so dedicated to playing a single chassis.

Out of interest, do you have roughly the same stats for each variant?

Obvious answer: the game rewards it. If you want your one mech to be at top effectiveness, you'll need to buy two other variants. If you don't have many slots or many CBills, that'll be a majority of your mechs right there. By the time you grind out those elite and master efficencies, you'll have a lot of experience piloting that typeof mech too. It's no surprise then that newer players will have an affinity for a specific chassis.

Of course, I understand that. Just as you understand that PGI is counting on most people to buy more mech bays because people like to 'collect them all', which in turn lets PGI have an income in a free game.

I wager that relatively few people have the determination, dedication or whatever you want to call it, to stay with a single chassis for so long. If not, then PGI is earning less money than I thought.

Nope,

JENNER JR7-D 634 394 238 1.66 653 328 1.99 195,596 429,674 2 days 05:49:33

JENNER JR7-F 170 90 80 1.13 182 103 1.77 47,198 95,920 14:38:37

JENNER JR7-K 46 27 19 1.42 46 25 1.84 13,611 30,413 03:31:47

And I play the same mech all the time because I love being a light mech, love capping, and love JJs. And spiders dont have enough damage dealing potential to replace it.

As another note, I have 1.5 million XP stored in my Jenner D.

It has nothing to do with that. I have plenty of slots, plenty of money, and plenty of CBills. I just really love my Jenner.

My best chassis are Atlases, which average out to 3.01 K/D and 1.4 W/L.
My worst chassis are dragons which average out to 1.4 K/D and 1.3 W/L, and those stats only look nice because the DRG-1C has double the K/D and W/L of the other two.

Interestingly though the mech that holds my top hat urbie, my CTF-1X, has my highest K/D of 3.46, that would almost make the top hat urbie pay2win if the W/L wasn't in the pits at 0.86.
Therefore the top hat urbie is obviously pay2killsteal.

Spider 5D is so good, that Tina Turner sang a song to it.

Disregarding the garbage I have sold as soon as all the basics were unlocked for it (read: 5K, 4X), the worst 'Mech in my 'Mech Bays is probably my 2D, followed by a 5J.

Neither of these 'Mechs is an utter rubbish, by any means. They just don't stand up to the others in their category from my POV (3L and 5D for Lights and 7M and 4SP for Meds).

My best mech would be one of my Stalkers, but the Muromets came close. Worst mech is my Trebuchet, regretted buying it almost instantly when I discovered it was as tall as an Awesome.

Edit: Typo.

Surprisingly, I'm best in my awesome. I just gel with it. The speed, the torso twist speed, for some reason it just works.

Never mind what the stats say Stalker. Back in your box you ungainly walking pillbox.

If we're going by only mechs with over 25 matches, I have to go with Heavy Metal as my best, and either Catapult C1 (lowest KDR) or Highlander 733C (worst Win/Loss by a long shot) as my worst.

If I'm allowed to select a different mech for worst, I have to go with Treb 7M. It's the only mech I have that doesn't have a KDR of at least 1...

I just checked my stats, and they pretty much mirror what I feel. Best is Raven 3L, worst is Raven 2X. Although I have a new 2X layout that I'm hoping will turn that around. I still have Elite to grind through with it, it'd be nice to not suck.

My Centurion A is still new - don't even have a single basic skill yet.

My Cats are all mastered, but a lot of that was before they started keeping stats. They are really hard to judge right now though, with the state that missiles are in.

Thanks for all your replies, guys. Really interesting stuff.

That sounded sarcastic, but wasn't.

I'm surprised to see that there's really no clear pattern in the votes so far. One might have expected the Jager and Stalker to be on top of the best list, and the Spider or Trebuchet to be on the top of the worst list. Of course, it's hard to draw conclusions, because a lot of people have mechs that they find so worthless that they won't even play 25 matches with them. Some people even sell their mechs after less than 10 matches. But even so, the 25 match limit seemed necessary to avoid completely wild results.

Well, to be fair, your stats are pretty similar, if not identical. If you had the equal number of matches with all three, they might be even more similar.
And yeah, I love the capabilities of the Jenner. I would play one, except I'm not completely sold on how it looks. It's growing on me though.
1,5 million XP is nice though. I wish PGI would create some 'end game' content to spend it on. It wouldn't need to be anything special, in my opinion. Some kind of decal would be enough. Just to show people you've been around.

I love the 2X, personally. If or when they increase the engine capacity, it will return to being my favourite light mech, I think. But even now, you can run that thing with so much firepower for a light mech (SRM6+SRM2+4 lasers of any size) and even with a standard engine, for increased survivability. Mine has a STD 240. And then there's the build with XL245, 2 Large lasers, SRM6 and mucho heatsinks.

Ah, the Raven 2X, and the tears from people who lower their shoulders once they see it's not a Raven 3L.

My two best are Yen Lo and The Death's Knell. Which I do feel kind of gross about, but that's they way it is.
Though, it's possible that it's just because I use them the most for the cbill bonus.

I think it just goes to show the importance of skill and experience. I've noticed that the Yen Lo Wang is scoring pretty well so far, even though there have been dozens of threads about how it's such a horrible hero mech. And to be honest, the YLW is the only mech I've ever scored 6 kills with and over 1000 damage in a single match (gauss + er large laser build).

Of course, on average, some mechs are clearly better than others. It's not just a question of skill and experience.

This is hard for me because I only own Trebs and a Highlander.

Best Mech is my 3C by a long way, but that's because I've owned it the longest.

Worst Mech is the 7M. Was not a fan of the 5 energy hardpoints on that chassis. Even doing better with the Highlander and I haven't had that nearly as long.

If you include all the trial Mech's and that one time I bought a Raven when I had no idea what I was doing, then the Stalker 4N is my worst, but I don't really think that's a fair comparison.
