I came across this page the other day that is an example of the type of behaviour that I believed PGI engaged in towards the MWLL devs.

Piranha Games President Russ Bullock OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZES MekTek's Solaris Assult Tech!

These lines I think are telling as to why MekTek can continue but yet MWLL could not.

"I am glad to say that I was able to discuss this matter with Mektek Studios Inc. and clarify the matter directly. Mektek's has assured Piranha Games that their product Solaris Assault Tech is for location based entertainment only"

By location based entertainment only I am reading 'not an online game where players can play from all over the world'. Of course I could be wrong in my interpretation here. This could also be a fake page.

Looking at the BTU project using the unity engine, which people have told me PGI have blessed and is an example against the idea that PGI killed MWLL, well, I take it the BTU project is for location based entertainment only?

If I am correct with the above then I feel like it is the case of nice try trying to come across as the nice guy PGI. Oh yeah 'aint Sean Lang at NGNG also involved in BTU? Would make sense given the spin that PGI is friendly to their project.

To the mods, I would like to point out that if it is a genuine page that I link to above, then it actually invites us to discuss this. I am being polite and sensitive by posting this in the off topic section.

I look at it like this, unless Bryan and Russ come out say, "we welcome those that wish to restart development of MWLL, to do so. We like and support community run projects", then it is very hard, IMO, to counter what I am putting forwards. The MWLL dev build and art assets are out there.

Can you copy and paste the contents into the thread? Facebook is a pain for me at work.

Yep. I also give you this link.

What KoJax says is to actually reinforce the point I am making. He can't come out and say it directly but it is pretty clear that Bryan or Russ pointed out the conflict of interest and pushed for development to cease. If Russ said what he did to MekTek then it is pretty clear that this conflict of interest foprmed the basis for his communications to the MWLL dev team (perhaps those two Crytek boys' bosses were asked by Russ to kill MWLL).

Piranha Games President Russ Bullock OFFICIALLY RECOGNIZES MekTek's Solaris Assult Tech!

    QUOTE:****************************
Recently Studio Mektek Inc. announced a new product titled Solaris Assault Tech which featured the use of the Battletech/MechWarrior IP. This did cause concern for Piranha Games and its partners which are investing heavily in MWO and held an exclusive license for PC and console products.

I am glad to say that I was able to discuss this matter with Mektek Studios Inc. and clarify the matter directly. Mektek's has assured Piranha Games that their product Solaris Assault Tech is for location based entertainment only.

Piranha Games Inc wishes Mektek only success in this exciting endeavor and look forward to the day we can visit locations that support their new product.

Furthermore nobody has done as much as Mektek over the past decade in keeping the MechWarrior brand and community fresh in gamers minds and in the future we will look to develop further opportunities to coordinate efforts to strengthen the MechWarrior brand.

We welcome everyone to discuss this project on our forums in the appropriate locations.

    Sincerely,

Russ Bullock, President of Piranha Games

(You can talk about Solaris Assault Tech, but please do so in the Mech Warrior Online "Off Topic section", as it is not directly related to MechWarrior Online.)
