No., any nerf will adversly affect those loadout that do not boat them.
this is all there is to say...
things to be done ( all around several times in these forums): adjust/ re-enable convergence, give every weapon an own "barrel" it shoots from, so 3 PPC´s in one location don´t behave like 1large "triple-ppc", add more heat penalities and such...
the weapon itself is fine

It`s right that there should be a little fixing with the ER PPC. In TT terms a ER PPC is a weapon with 10 point dmg for a longer range with much higher costs of 15 heat. I wonder why PGI put the heat of the ER PPC to 11 points of heat. With just the adjustment of 4 points more heat per ER PPC the alphastriking a 6 ER PPC boat can strike once and is out cold.

Personally, I prefer the Blue Orbs of Exploding Death from MW2. Slow travelling energy weapon with big splash damage. Awesome visuals unrivaled by any PPCs since IMO. Just watch from 2:00.

How about making PPCs take up an extra crit slot? So now they would take 4 instead of 3. It not only reduces how many you can place in certain sections of a mech, but also lowers the number of heat sinks you can take.

yet again the problem isn't with the PPCs it's with the heat systen and uber accuracy of massed weapons. the weapons are jus about right now. the lack of a real penalty for overloading your mech is not. you'all need to stop harping on what's notbroken and push for the fix that the game needs. there';s a lot of bent things in this game but only a few actually broken things.

I voted no cause the weapon design itself isn't the problem as its the instantaneous ability too land pinpoint damage at range.
The problem as I see it is the convergence system is just too good and the fact sniping in this game is far easier then most other FPS I've played. Most other games trying to snipe targets is hard cause It's almost always like trying to hit a stick spider at 1000m
1: That's always moving
2: Gots tons of cover
3: Has plentiful drastically different elevations
4: Built in hinderances like drastic aim sway
5: Almost all sniper weapons are useless at close quarters.
Sniping in MWO is so much easy with most of the above not applying or barely so. Lights are even easy to hit regardless of their size cause the terrain doesn't benefit them as much so it's much easier to predict their path as all mechs got inertia and lack of free movement like most other FPS allow.
