I'll start this by saying I'm not asking for a PPC nerf, as I think they are a great weapon as is. I'm here to "complain" about PPC and ERPPC boats. Now before you start chewing me out, hear me out. I've been a fan of battletech since the 6th grade, (I'm 25 now), so I have a good knowledge of canon. I know there are ppc boats in canon, the awesome and the Warhawk to name a few. I'm ok with that as the mechs are purpose built for that. In lore, everyone fears an awesome because it's a PPC boat. With the current in-game-rules though, any energy hardpoint mech can be a PPC boat, especially the stalker. The idea of a ppc boat doesnt bother me, as I've already explained. What does bother me is a stalker ppc boat. For example in lore, a stalker is all lasers and missles, period. To me it is just plain "wrong" for a missle/laser boat to be able to be configured into a ppc boat. This isn't only true of stalkers either.
So while I recognize it is likely way too late in developement for this to happen, but what I propose is that PPCs get their own hardpoints. So there would be ballistics, missles, energy(lasers, tag, flamers), and PPCs. This would make PPC carrying mechs special. The awesome is seldom seen on the battlefield when it isnt a trial mech. Having it be a designated PPC boat would allow the Awesome to be unique and this would make it used more often. Since the awesome is slow and combersome, it would offset the "addvantage" of the PPCs anyway. Some varients of the stalker (the -4N I think) aren't used right now by anyone, make that version be able to carry two ppcs to make it special. Have one version of the atlas that can carry PPCS. the large laser centurion could mount one ppc. Maybe each chassis (except the awesome of which all could carry ppcs except maybe the -8R or -8T) would have one PPC variant. Making the max number of available PPC hardpoints, lets say 4, limited to only the -9M awesome. The 8Q would be the only chassis with 3, while certain variants of other chassis could have 2. This would really help improve game balance. Of course these numbers could be played around with.
I think this would enable seldom used chassis and variants to gain validity, make the commonly hated PPC boats less common, and make the Awesome the feared PPC monster it is supposed to be. Those are my two bits. (let the hate mail begin)

NO thank you, I prefer the current hardpoint system.

I suspect they are in the process of balancing weapon systems, perhaps this is why every month there is a new call to nerf.

I've been playing BT for 25 years, and I think this is a bad idea.

PPC's (and most other weapons) are fine where they currently are, it's the heat system that needs to be fixed first, then weapon values balanced after that.
