Poll: Should use of quirks be increased to make Chassis's unique? (73 member(s) have cast votes)

Should devs limit use of certain hardpoints to X number of critical slots via quirks to make Mechs more "unique" and to encourage diversity. For Example: Why do we really need a 4 PPC stalker. We already have the Awesome.

  1. Yes (this option would be to effectively put size restrictions on SOME hardpoints) (29 votes [39.73%])

  4. I would support this if the quirks were something like: 5-10% extra heat dissipation of the K2, 5-10% faster reload rate on the Stalker. K2 is designed to 'boat' PPC, Stalker is designed to 'boat" missiles. Make those traits attractive. (26 votes [35.62%])

Come on, it should be obvious that I mean reductions, not increases. Just like the numbers are just place holders to be figured out.

Well yes, but I didn't want it to be the first player suggestion PGI implemented verbatim.

A very difficult topic, on the one hand customization is cool and an important part of the game,
but on the other hand you should not be able to do everything with every mech.

e.g.:

The Hunchback 4J: We already got the Trebuchet, why have a LRM Hunch?
The YLW (Hero Cent) and the TBT K: The AC20 really belongs to a Hunchback
6PPC Stalker: That's something for an Awesome.
4LRM 15 AWS-8R: The Stalker should be the missile boat shouldn't it?

K2 with dual Gauss, dual AC20. Why do we have the Jagermech again? Or the Cataphract?


So some limitation to hardpoints would be appreciated.
Or as suggested by the OP some quirks that e.g. make it more beneficial to put that AC20 on the Hunch.
(okay it's nice to have it on the shoulder, I always hit obstacles with my arm mounted AC20)

Hunchback was in game first :). What i dont get is why they chose a 3rd 50 ton chassis and not a 55. Not all the 55's are unseen

I think customization is great but i think there should be some benefit in using a chassis as intended. Or at least CLOSE to it's original purpose. Hence the thread :(
