Hey guys,
I'm sure there are a lot of cent players out there and was wondering what kind of load outs you guys run for the CN9-AL.

I've tried a few and found some fun ones , run em all with STD 245 255 engine, Endo steel and DHS.
Spoiler

Looking forward to other load outs!

I'll add em here.
Spoiler

Edit: Ok so people have posted a lot of builds and some are really similar to the ones posted earlier so I'll be adding only the unique ones here.

My favorite AL runs a standard 260, 2 large pulse, and 2 med lasers. + endo and dhs

Rest in armour and heat sinks. I don't use AMS in it since it can easily outrun lrm fire.

CN9-AL
STD275 (max size)
4xML
1xSRM6+artemis
1xSRM4+artemis
200 SRM ammo
14 Heat Sinks

You could remove a DHS to "upgrade" the SRM4+artemis to another SRM6+artemis, but the accuracy of the SRM4+artemis is (in my opinion) more useful than two extra SRMs at all but the closest ranges (<100m).

Remember to open your weapon doors ("/") and use your big damn arms to direct damage away from your CT. 4 ML isn't anything to be ignored by any class and the speed (89.1KPH/98KPH w/ Speed Tweak) means you can successfully dash from cover to cover on most approaches to get into optimum range.

Things I don't like on the AL:
1. MPL. There aren't many mech I'd say I like the MPL on. Hot, poor range, etc.
2. PPCs. There are mechs for this, and they aren't the Centurion.
3. Large Lasers. Hot and heavy, makes losing your right arm truly crippling.
4. Streaks. You're fast. It's not impossible to nail lights with your SRMs provided you get some practice.
5. Tiny baby engines (<260?!). For weak, cowardly baby men.

I do like LPLs, but I generally do not use them. They sync with the MLs so very well, and their DPS justifies the heft and heat, IMO.

That seems like a nice build though I cant agree with you on all points, my PPC cent has done great work so far but that's probably because I play him as a fire support mech. Hurts losing the strong arm though but I killed plenty of people with just the 2 ML.

I'm def going to try your loadout for brawling and such, thanks a lot!

I don't know, PPCent isn't terrible, but hunchies and trebs are just better mediums for that job. Why not use an XL in your PPCent, by the way? I've no experience with doing so, but I'd imagine the XL for Fire Support STD for Brawlers general rule would still apply.

One I've been trying is
2xLL
2xML
1xSRM6
1xLRM10

It's unfocused, but I've had some fun.

I'm newish and interested by the opinion that PPCs aren't for this mech. What makes a mech good or bad with PPCs (or any given weapon, if there are universal principles)?

I run my AL with a 245XL, 2ML in the CT, 2 SSRMs, and 2 HPL. The rest is heatsinks and armor. The dual heavy pulse lasers deal tremendous damage and they're really fun to use.

I think the reason is that Cent's are designed to be brawlers and ppc's aren't quite the brawler type weapon.
Though i dont think its specifically a bad weapon for a cent, just adds a different playstyle.

I usually pilot a dragon so I'm kinda used to the supportive fire type though I dont like running the XL engine in my cent because I like my cent as a zombie on the battlefield =P

Am currently Running my AL with 1x LPL, 3x ML and 2x srm6's, works pretty well and up close it just wreaks havoc

Personally, I like PPCS on a cent because of the arm hard points.

The extra mobility makes it a lot easier to hit targets while you are moving at full speed. You can put a lot of pressure on an enemy team without putting your mech at risk at short rage.

It does leave you undergunned in at medium and short range, but the trick is to play as a fire support mech and use your mobility to keep other mechs at range.

I run 4xML and 2xSRM4.
I used to run 2xSRM6, but I found that SRM4s have a tighter spread and faster fire rate, so I was getting the same amount of rounds on target.

what kind of engine do you run with that? should leave a lot of free tons, do you put em all in heat sinks?

Something like this

You can always swap an heatsink with an additional ton of ammo or change the artemis upgrade for SRM6. The nice thing about Artemis SRM4 vs SRM6 is that they require 2/3 of the ammo.

98kph is awesome, shield arm is perfect, it is ultra durable and you can even signal with your missle bay doors! what more do you want from a 50 ton mech ;)

I find this build to be rather effective though it is simple.

3x LL
STD 250
Endo Steel
DHS (10 in engine, 4 outside engine)

I always run this build though I may be changing it to the 2nd or 3rd config once BAP counters ECM.

CN9-AL Primary

CN9-AL Alt 1

CN9-AL Alt 2

I have also run this one to good effect at times.

Okay, I have a CN9-AL I call Berserk. I have armed it with 2x MPL in the center torso, 2x MBL in the right arm, and 2x SRM 4 in the left torso. It is sporting an STD275 for max speed and zombie capabilities, while also lugging in an impressive max torso/arm armor load while the legs still retain a hefty 30+ points of armor. Just don't forget to load in your double heat sinks and endo-structure :)

CN9-AL

This build sacrifices speed (normal - 64kph skill - 71kph) for the sake of firepower and heat efficiency. Centurions make excellent escorts for team assault mechs and when partnered up with one's protection I've found that you don't need a lot of speed to get the job done. It's great from medium to short range and with just the 2LLs grouped you can still do a lot of damage before you get into full weapon range. The grouped 2ML provide the filler for your LLs and when you're up nice and close the grouped SRM6+4 make a huge mess.

Advantages:

Excellent damage (43)
Great weapon coverage from ranges 0 - 550m
Good heat dissipation from the 8xDHS

Disadvantages:

Average speed (recommend partnering up with an assault mech).
As the battle goes on you tend to lose dps and increase shutdown risk as more and more heatsinks are taken out.
You can't really alpha strike with this build due to its high heat buildup.
High demand of accuracy (especially with the SRMs)

Other than that, I've used this build for the last 500 games and love it.
