It was a game with premades on either side, which helps. But the people I usually drop with don't really go FOTM for the most part. This isn't to say they don't use the top build for the mechs they bring, they do. It is to say that we aren't rolling with nothing but poptarts.
I PUG as well, and I've stopped back caps in heavies before, at times just slowed it down enough, but I've done it. Probably because I don't give a rats *** about KDR.
Yes, And I'm "that Other Guy"

As I noted, being organized in a group makes a world of difference. But that's not the experience most players have, and it's not what PGI should assume everyone will do. I've been PUGing a lot to grind out my Highlanders for the last week-and-a-half, and it's pretty icky.
I'll stop the capture if I think it's worth my time, but it's usually not. I'd usually rather just wail on the guy in front of me, lose, and re-drop (just like you don't care about your KDR, I don't care about my WLR).
Though for 8-mans with my clan, I'm all about winning. It's actually a bit ironic that what is perhaps my proudest round of all time was an epic capture win. But the rest of the time, I reaaaallly enjoy shooting things.
And I think that sucks for people like you. I wouldn't want people like me on my team, but I also play this game to have fun - not to play the way someone else intends (even if that means losing). Which is why I support separating the people that want to play objective games from those who don't.

I don't care about WLR as well, but it's amazingly fun to cap and point out the flaws in people trying to TDM stuff. And the complaints in chat are always vastly more entertaining than racking up kills with poptarts.

When I'm in the mood for pure Pew Pew, I drop Conquest to avoid the backcapping for a small chance of having to play "catch the light"
I'm pretty torn about the basecapping. It has its uses, such as tagging it to create friction in the other team by forcing them to disengage to prevent back capping. Its also very annoying when the opposing light does it.
I'd love to see a dynamic KotH.
The cap mechanic is good, just needs some polishing IMO

This is also a rosy portrait of Conquest. Much more so than assault, you have to watch the last light run around for the last five minutes of a round - often in vain, without a hope of being able to score the points to win. But I do agree that it makes for more interesting fights and you get a lot of brawls all over the place.
Dynamic would be totally awesome. I'd love to see how that changed things up.

Just take a dual autocannon 20 jagermech and play Gandalf with the enemy base borders.
