BOLO's are no mechs !

They are from a compleatly different universe, where for example a pair of Bolo can defend a planet against a entire invasion fleet ( including shooting the ships in orbit ! )

Thanks guy, I had no idea.

I think you meant 'impossible' there. :-) Good old 40K.

the assault mechs already dominate the gameplay as they have done in all MW games. Bringing in a "super-heavy" mech would just be ridiculous.

This sort of gameplay could work however, if there was a special mode where one pilot from a team piloted a dropship/SHM. Then it could be a "Defend/attack the dropship/SHM" sort of game.

hi, its not a good id, because u r loosing all angles for a balance game.
Mech warrior was and hopefully was a game with mechs between 25 to 100 tonnes basta :P=

PS: (add please more than just some new game mot s, just brawling all the time is boring, more like 1 to 2 hour missions pvp or pve with fortified bases and ma by some npc s and ground fire from turrets and real goals not only killing your enm )

100+ ton 'mechs?

Heeeell no!

They were a badly thought up concept in a frankly disappointing add-ob to the BT universe..

They did also experiment with 15 ton super light 'mechs but these are considered non-canon. admittedly, super lights are a far more realistic concept than the Colossal class.

I will lay it out in simple mathematics:

>100 tons = pillbox

There you go. It's called a "bunker". Lots and lots of guns, 0 kph speed, fusion reactor built in, armor made of reinforced ferrocrete. Multiple crew members, no Piloting skill required (and no legs).

Actually, the Dropship could also fall into this category, as mentioned above. But who wants to be a Dropship pilot? Pfff, they are just bus drivers...

I prefer PROTOMECHS ( 2-14 ton ) instead of these super light mechs !

My opinion on these is that THEY, as in the MECHS that we are discussing, would have to be AI controlled, and pitted against multiple HUMAN players, with artillery, or lots of Assault mechs, I would not only find that challenging, but get a rush, as I ran right in between the legs of that behemoth, and marking it for artillery.

Could probably take on the Clan Invasion and ***** at the same time. By itself.

O.O (runs and screams, then looks for a f*cking helmet)

Is this a joke thread just to get post counts up?

What is a joke is how vehemently some people seem to care about it. I must stop any more comments now because if I go into detail about what I have read (thus far up to page 7) I will probably start another flame war.

Did it when I played the TT game as a kid. Cant remember how we tweaked the math for engine sizes so the quadratic formula didn't explode if you wanted a 200 tonner to go 5 hexes a turn, but we found something that wound up being balanced. I think maybe we killed the XL rules for superheavies, that way an engine that wound up being 130 tons couldn't be cut down to 75 and only pay the measly price of filling up a few more crit slots, of which there were a lot more as I'll explain. For everything else, we pretty much just overlapped 2 record sheets. Armor values were cumulative, engine slots were doubled, mandatory internal components still only took up one location, so an actuator still just had one slot. We came up with our own crit location tables based off of a D12 or D20 and tuned the table to keep the probablities of hitting a vital location like an actuator the same as it would have been with a single record sheet. Man, it's been so many decades since then I can't recall just how we did it, but it worked in a balanced way. Really all these 'superheavies' wound up being good for in practical combat scenarios was a mobile firing platform for Long Toms, Arrow IVs, Thumpers, etc, and as an excelent way to distract and tie-up less experienced players who didn't understand the way to win was have whole lances focusfire on the smallest Mech in their range until it went down.... lather, rinse, repeat.

I think having more variety of small medium n heavy mechs would benefit the online game far more than having 100+ mechs lumbering. Just my opinion.
