Last I checked you had to actually get a solid lock for more accurate fire for all weapons according to the books, so why don't they just implement target lock on with a chance for all direct fire weapons to hit a random location, I mean they somewhat did that for streaks, I am sure they could do that for direct fire weapons.

It would allow us to be prepared for when/if targeting computers come out since those will be obsolete at the moment now.

But you can still fire your weapons without a solid lock but they would be less accurate, it would definitely make this game more sim like.

And make it boring as well. This is like the auto attacks and mindless button smashing of fantasy mmo's with no skill involved.

Everything would depend on luck. There are far better ways of handling aim and shooting, some have been posted already e.g. Tweaking convergence, crosshairs

If they did make a change then I would prefer a shrinking crosshair. Basically backwards of what some games do when firing automatic weapons. So the crosshair would start out pretty large but the longer you hold it on your target the smaller it becomes. So at range your crosshair might be larger than the enemy for a second but if you can keep him in your sights long enough you will get pinpoint accuracy. And when you are close up you could fire right away and hit but it would take a second to actually hit exactly where you want.

Well what great idea do you have? the reason why they doubled armor is because you can constantly hit the same spot over and over, this would balance a lot of the issues with people dying to one hit or pop tarting.

How about a cone of fire? Because with the game being as it is now, there is absolutely no use for a targeting computer.

Cone of fire sounds reasonable to me, and the higher the heat the longer it takes for the cone to shrink.
