Jumping Jesus, what's with you contesting every single thing people say? Do you get off of it? Does it feel good whenever you score points on some trivial stuff or having the last word? This is just some thing I noticed on most threads you participate in.
I was referring to the popular depiction of how every laser port in battlemech (from novel cover to fan art) have burn marks.
pot calling the kettle black? Every comment I make you quote and jump on, bro. Kinda crazy accusing me of it when I am responding to YOUR doing it, lol.
And I was referring specifically to MW:O. This is the first time I can recall (and I don't claim perfect recall) of seeing black laser hard points. It is also the first time I have seen a texture/skin with massive battle damage on what appears to be a pristine mech (since it is not showing the usual in game battle damage ) which leads me to wonder if we might be seeing dummy hardpoints, or an instance of a mech that was all but scrapped, but rebuilt, and we have the burnt out focal lenses being all that's left.
I doubt it, but am curious, as the depiction is very different than their norm. (I'd be all for a pure Missile/ Ballistic version, but doubt we'll get it.) That would be pretty tough to call P2W with it's inherent limitations. But fun to toy with.
The rest is just me goading the QQ Nation, since pretty much every time PGI farts, it's "P2W".

yeah 'cause you're probably planning on spending $25 for a slight advantage at a videogame. I wouldn't care about it being pay to have ballistics if the asking price wasnt ridiculous.
Yeah... because I have bought... exactly ZERO Hero Assaults so far. And Laugh at your fear of this Stalker when even with 4 PPC and a Gauss, it is till pretty much inferior to the 3 PPC/ Gauss Poptart Highlander you can get for free, since like any Stalker it is pretty much guaranteed to be flanked by ANYTHING else in the game.
Of course, if you stop in the open, you deserve every bit of Stalker love you get.

14 DHS are not enough for you? (well, 10 DHS with 4 semi DHS......lol)
At which point, 4 PPC and squat for turn speed and mobility mean you have exactly one Gauss to fend off face huggers... IF you can turn enough to aim in from your torso... before you get side cored, and the exploding gauss kills your XL engine.

Hey, I didn't say it would be viable. 3PPC+Gauss seems more likely to me. But people will do it, side torsos or not. Effectiveness is another matter.

Either way I'm not entirely sure if 4 PPCs and a Gauss really scare me. Any boat Stalker can rip me a new one if I run straight at it but they seem harmless when flanked.

Not nice enough for me to join the everyone drives an assault mindset but nice nonetheless.
I'm not sure how I feel about every assault having a hero variant given the current meta of assaults everywhere though

I would have liked to see a hero bucket, though that would just give every medium a hero, ah well all in time I suppose.
there is no atlas hero

LOL. Very true. I also find PPC Sniping limiting because you have SQUAT at short range, and their true long range is pretty sad compared to the ER version.
We need to watch out for those barely viable, one trick pony mechs.. they are for sure P2W!

Just because you cant do it doesn't mean it isnt viable. If you actually have a brain you probably wont end up inside of 90m of the enemy in a ppc sniper very often.

Remember the fear of the three Gauss Ilya prior to its release? The height of P2W, I say!

What..that Hero's have unique Hardpoints?
Tell me, all smack talk, and flame-baiting aside, how one makes a Hero Stalker one would actually buy, sans the Ballistic?
Every variant of Missile/ Energy h-point we can think of, is pretty well exhausted in the stock models. So you have to basically make a pure Energy H-Point (limited usefulness at best, when 8 E-Points are better handled by an Awesome with at least SOME modicum of mobility) or Pure Missile Hardpoints (which could be interesting, but again, probably better covered by the Cat-A1).......
Or you nerf the quantity of other style hard points and give it a Ballistic. Since all the raging seems to be about PPC/Gauss combos and a low heat weapon allowing it to overcome the heat cap...... I don't see how it actually does that when you pretty well remove any hope of mounting enough heatsinks to keep from being a paper weight. And doubly so should someone use an AC20, since you can't even save weight with an XL then to try to compensate.

Brains can't change the laws of physics. Slow, and Ponderous, the Way of the Stalker is.
The only people who let you sit back and snipe are PUGs with no support, or 8 man teams scared to lose a mech. SMART players almost universally get flankers in on those Stalkers. Even when overlapped with PopTarts, I have seldom seen a Snipe team hold up to a smart (using cover, even can do this to some degree on Alpine...unless your whole unit is Fatlases... then you are gonna get shot a lot while shifting positions, lol), hard push where the team is committed. If we are going to change this from mechanics to tactics, as you seem to want to.

I never run any Stalker with less than 20 DHS. My current setup has 22. Its why the Stalker is sooo much better than a Atlas. You can pack a stalker full with DHS, use a standard engine, and still have room for a substantial amount of weapons.
You cant do that with an Atlass, by the time u have a big enough stndard engine, max armor, and enough DHS, ur ether out of room or out of tonnage.
This be the 1st Hero Mech i would be interested in, but i dont do micro transaction ..or pay for a game b4 its finished .. or P2W. So i wont be getting it

Well just my opinion here, but i think that they should limit the hard point changes on hero mechs to just moving around hard points form existing variants and picking the best parts of them if they want. So for example ilya was okay since they took the jumpjets from the catapult 3D and the abundance of ballistic slots from the 4X and combined them. So although there isnt another cataphract with 3 ballistics and jumpjets you can basically do anything you can do with ilya with either the 4X or 3D. Whereas with the stalker they've billed the Cbill varients and energy/missile boats and so the stalker hero should be energy/missile too.
As to why would people buy a non p2w stalker hero, well you're paying for the bonus, so people who already enjoy stalkers and want to use them to grind for cbills will buy it. Which i suspect is why some people are still piloting pretty baby because that thing has ******* terrible hardpoints. Since PGI presumably are going to eventually make a hero version of every chassis they shouldn't need to stoop to making the mc variants outright better in order to tempt people into buying them.

My highlander only goes like 54kmph and i very rarely find myself in a brawl i dont want to be in. With pugs you can just hang back, way back, out of the way and shoot people at like 600m. With an organised team it doesn't matter if the enemy gets close because you can just have other mechs defend you.

C'mon, I mean misery would be a great name for a Raven.
Also, I don't want to see a gauss on a Stalker. That's just brutal.
