Can We Expect Any Of These Light And Medium Clan Mechs?

I haven't really found a favourite mech in this game so far, so I'm trying to see what mechs I can expect when the Clans arrive. I've compiled a list of clan mechs from Sarna that aren't Unseen or Reseen, and come up with this.

Can we expect to see any number of the light and medium mechs listed below, or are there some mechs on this list that are unlikely to be featured in this game? I don't know a lot about Battletech beyond the video games and cartoons.

Light:
Adder (Puma) - 35 tons
Arctic Cheetah (Hankyu) - 30 tons
Fire Moth (Dasher) - 20 tons
Horned Owl (Peregrine) - 35 tons
Jenner IIC - 35 tons
Kit Fox (Uller) - 30 tons
Mist Lynx (Koshi) - 25 tons

Medium
Great Wyrm - 45 tons
Hoplite - 55 tons
Hunchback IIC - 50 tons
Ice Ferret (Fenris) - 45 tons
Mongrel (Grendel) - 45 tons
Nova (Black Hawk) - 50 tons
Phantom - 40 tons
Pouncer - 40 tons
Shadow Cat - 45 tons
Stormcrow (Ryoken) - 55 tons
Viper (Dragonfly) - 40 tons
Wyvern IIC - 45 tons


PS: I'm sure this has been addressed elsewhere, but there's 20 pages of threads in this forum, and searching for "clan" and "mech" won't get me anywhere.

Here's the thing - PGI has been very tight lipped about Clan content. There's no conclusive information on what mechs will get. Some devs have mentioned that they like the Hunchback IIC's looks though.

I'll say this though - I would be very surprised if the Stormcrow wasn't included. The Shadow Cat and Kit Fox also seem likely to me. That's pure speculation though.

Well your list is fairly complete, so I'd say "yes" to your question - it is likely that at least some of those mechs will be in Mechwarrior Online.

If I had to pick 3 to be likely to be first for each category, I'd pick:

Light:
Fire Moth - for the great speed light
Jenner IIC - for the balanced light
Adder - for the big offense light

Medium:
Ice Ferret - for the great speed medium
Nova - for the big offense medium
Stormcrow - for the balanced medium

Yeah, I'm definitely expecting to see the ones that have featured in most of the former MechWarrior / Mech Commander games. But I'm not asking about which ones we will see. I'm asking if there's any mechs on this list that we'll definitely not see.

Let's say the Pouncer doesn't show up until 3065, or maybe one of these mechs isn't canon.

Honestly, while the Firemoth is a great light mech choice, initially, as it runs on MASC quite heavily, I do not expect it out of the gates. The Kitfox, however, seems like a solid choice, as does the Jenner IIC. For mediums, the Stormcrow and the Nova are both extremely solid contenders. I do not expect the Shadowcat on release only because it is primarily a Nova Cat mech that, while well distributed among the clans, is not as well distributed as the Stormcrow.

FWIW my 3050 TRO upgrade lists:

Lights:

Dasher
Puma
Uller
Koshi

Mediums:

Dragonfly
Fenris
Blackhawk
Ryoken

You can assume that these were the dominate mechs from each class during the invasion,
at least in the literature.

But PGI can do whatever they want.

I don't remember the Dragonfly, Fenris or Koshi from any previous games, so they may have
a slightly(?) better(?) chance of showing up, but I don't know and can only guess.

I wouldn't expect anything not mentioned on this list. IMO, the IIC variants would be unlikely. Not that I wouldn't like to see them introduced at some point.

I like the Kitfox, I just never learned the proper way to use one. Most light mechs rely on speed and mobility, and the lack of torso twist the Kitfox had gave me issues. It's not really a fast mech either. How do you guys play one? What am I missing?

I think this is mostly spot on, but I'd substitute the Kit Fox in for your Jenner IIC, so that the design would be unique, even though The load out & roles would be comparable.

Not shure about the timberwolf... it's a so extremely loved and popular 'mech that by including it in the game you will risk to have an ENORMOUS part of players using it and actually moving to "TimberWolf Online".. On the other hand not including it would mean having a part of Clan players to invade the PGI offices :ph34r:

It was never a problem in the other mech games so i doubt it. The latter part of your statement is true still.

I am still loling at this quote.....

As for how to use the Kitfox, probably in a roll similar to the Adder. Using its small profile and relatively high speed (overall, mech wise, not among light mechs that is) to hunt larger mechs. You can already mimic the combat method in a Cicada with twin ERPPC, hitting and fading. Imagine either doing the same thing with almost double the firepower.

you wont get the nova the no toros twist would just make it garbage

I disagree. The Nova has arms that can move, plus jump jets. It can make up for its lack of torso twist just fine.

no it really cant are you playing the same game? just think about it for a second it would get out manoeuvred by anything else for god sake, there is things like turning to be considerd as well it would just get smashed in a circle jerk and even long range it cant even manouver side to side. So something is on its left or right whats it going to do? shoot them with the one arm when other mechs can bring their whole firepower to the table? the ryoken would just be far far superiour this is not table top.

Kit Fox/Uller
Ice Ferret/Fenris
Hunchback IIC
Nova/Black Hawk (But I really hope not!)
Shadow Cat
Stormcrow/Ryoken
Dragonfly

I'm pretty sure we're going to see most, if not all of the Original Sixteen™ in-game eventually. Puma (and the Cougar) have been featured in MW3 and MW4, so they could likely make a comeback as well. Hunchback IIC has not been featured heavily in games but I think it would be an interesting way to introduce new players to the history of the Clans and their equipment.

These actually fall into the category of Unseen (Victor Musical Industries unseen, not Harmony Gold)

Stalkers function just fine despite zero arm movement to the sides, extremely limited torso movement, and no jump jets. If the arms of a nova provide the same arc of fire as a stalkers torso, while it may not do well in a turning fight it absolutely can fight well. That ignores the blindingly easy pin point turns the jump jets allow. Will it have restricted firing arcs? Sure. But the sucker has a, what, 72 point alpha strike? I think it can manage.
