I Play Conquest Just To Avoid Basecaps, Anyone Else?

I stopped playing assault game mode simply because I want to play a game where you actually fight eachother. In conquest you do not have to worry about the game being over in 2 minutes because a light mech wants to play capturewarrior online.

Does anyone else play conquest just for the lack of an instant win capture?

For people who love capturing maybe we can have a new game mode that is all light mechs and with no weapons allowed?

I actually play Assault mode specifically to avoid having to worry about capturing 3+ bases... it's easy to defend 1 base, but hard to defend 5 bases. I'd much rather defend a single base because it's pretty hard to ninja basecap a team that plays well.

I support everyone who rages about caps to go to Conquest, then I won't have to play you.

It will make social engineering a change in the Meta more easy.

There seems to be no escape. If I play Conquest, I get one light running around with no hope of success for five minutes, and if I play Assault, someone goes for the reach-around. I just want one game mode that offers a real fight with no escape.

Yeah...
I've given up on trying to swap between the different modes as both can end in capping, and anyone who doesn't understand that neither modes accommodate that, I think, are full of it.

I play conquest specifically to avoid the players who don't want to play objectives. I like capping, and conquest forces people to respect the caps. There is less "Let's stand in one place and fight there" than there is in assault.

How about team damage determines the winner in assault with 7 min timer. Then another game mode where people just run around giggling capturing bases?

team damage? the one team with higher high alpha boats will win the round wont it?

Highest applied DPS. Alpha boats actually try to deal the least damage per kill possible.

Anyway. I win more Assault games then Conquest. So sometimes I go for Assault instead of Any.

I agree.

And in the same way I typically avoid the assault gametype, many people prefer it. Typically, assault games are somewhat more likely to have heavier total weight in game, and conquest tends to be lighter. Players who want to load as much dakka up and then simply blow holes in things tend to prefer the less tactical game-type, it seems. Can you blame them? Boaters are not exactly creative to begin with.

I go conquest just to be able to have a strategic game instead of a blunt, brainless weight/junk measuring contest with a bunch of boats who can't be bothered to leave their base.

Tell us of the alpha wars of your peoples, OP.

Me? I play lights and cap. With the current state of the game, I have trouble maintaining any sort of decent damage with anything that can't cross a map in a minute. Something about a mech facing 90 degrees away from me and coring me just doesn't sit right with me.

I love playing Conquest with nothing but assault and heavy mechs. It's always fun trying to get caps against mechs running 2-3 times as fast as you.
Or you get swarmed by them and can decide if you let them kill you or their heavy buddies who shoot you from the distance.

Honestly, it's useless to talk about game modes as long as matchmaking is still messed up.

Would prefer an assault/defense map for that sort of game. One flag capture point period. You get 5-6 minutes to get to and wipe out anyone standing in that one point, then swap sides. Or hell, skip the side swap. I wouldn't mind playing defense if I KNEW the enemy was comin right for us.

if your a heavy with out xl stay assault if your assault mech play obviously assault
if your a med play conques or a light
else stay dafuq in assault and play wiht that poptarding mass like you probably deserve
and dont try to ruin another game mode and your team by playing conquest in something slooooow

This is exactly why I stopped playing conquest. Conquest without proper weight balancing isn't really about strategy, it's about who brought more (competent) lights.

How is any capping actually tactical?? its stupid stepping on a magic square... tactical at my definition would be formation movement.. flanking, retreats and regrouping on huge huge maps... those ratboxes in MWO just dont provide that.



And i´d prefer to play neither of the 2 game modes currently ingame. Thats why we as a unit are participating in a fan made league and doing preset 8 Mens with no cap rule and other limitations..

There is where you get real BT/Mechwarrior tactical gameplay.

Just had a Conquest game in which my team lost to an AFKer and their own retardation.

Three of us left, one enemy left, opposing team needs 50 more points to win, but only has 2 cap points which are both readily within our range. All we have to do is capture both points to halt the opposing team's gain and win the match. I head to one point while ordering my two PUG teammates to the other.

The morons instead follow me to the same cap point and we lose the game--to an AFK atlas who happened to be at the other cap point. We have to endure the cheers and jeers of the opposing team's victory celebration.

I now prefer Assault mode.

Interesting stat - 19% of Assault wins come from Base Caps. 81% of victories come from destroying the opposition.
