just throwing this out there ive played mech games since ps1. also was a big fan of chromhouds on xbox. any way my question is why not sell the mech with nothing on it and have it where u can save setups buy the weapons ect.I think it be more fun and interesting

Why not pay little extra and get a fully working mech? Note many players don't know how to configure their mech form the get go so that's why a basic setup needs to be done for them. You could always strip it and sell the parts.

OP has a valid suggestion. Why buy the crappy engine, if you are going to sell it? Why buy an awesome with 3 PPCs, if you have your own. Remember selling has a penalty of 50%, which is big one, considering you are literally selling brand new unpacked stuff in some cases.
A stripped down version of the mech would probably end up being 25% of the original cost, which A LOT cheaper, not just a marginal improvement.

moneysink...also canon... mechs aren´t sold w/o equipment... every variant is specially designed by the producing company and comes from the factory the way it is sold... us being able to customize them so easily is "a nice move by PGI"...
