Hey guys, first post btw

Would it be considered sacreligious to plan on playing MWO with an Xbox 360 controller? I mean, I have the Saitek X52 flightsticks for my flight sims like, Cliffs of Dover, IL1946, and DCS. Is it me or will there not be a really big need for a huge setup like the Artemis?

I know I probably won't be getting the thing. But to answer your question, the actual hardware requirements are kinda sketchy right now. So the hardware you already have should work. Personally I do not have a problem but you may want to go with a joystick, as it seems to work better in the First person view the game will be in.

Honestly if I had the cash, something like this would be amazing:

thats about $200 in controlers and peddles...$900+ for a chair??? AND thats with a "discount" lol. You can make yourself a way better setup for alot less. No offence.

edit: IF thats the stick you wanted,

make your own and pick your own hardware.

Let's not forget the Razor's controller is in the concept stage. Hopefully it will get thoroughly tested and some things will change. Don't get me wrong. I will not be surprised if they just throw it onto the market as is but, maybe they will test it more for necessarily modifications...

Seeing the Artemis has got me really wondering now how I want to set up the controls on my flight system to play MWO.

I am thinking I want the joystick to control the torso, both pitch and twist, but then that leaves me trying to figure out how I want to control turning of the legs. Using pedals to turn, like taxiIng on a runway, seems ideal but I'm worried it wouldn't be very graceful, or accurate. So I started thinking for when I want/need a more precise turn I could additionally set up a thumb switch on the throttle for turning. The toe brakes I know for certain I want to control my jump jets, as that would be pretty canon as described in BattleTech fiction.

Its dumb, I know, to be thinking about so trivial an issue when the game is still over a month away, but I get bored at work and my mind wanders.

This. Also, they're charging over 400 dollars for a $250 joystick; I wouldn't buy anything from someone who's THAT desperate to rip people off.

I think I'll just grab a $90 joystick and see how I go with it and my Razer keyboard. If people rave about this item I might consider it but the left hand is sitting on a basic Nostromo or the Logitech model.

Don't get me wrong Razer products are great and it looks like a cool item. I have my well seasoned Deathadder 3.5G under palm.

Going to stick with my trusty Saitek X45 set and be done with it. The Artemis and the Hawken controllers just look like expensive toys which in my opinion will take far too long to master and not make you a better Mech pilot.

Actually, and maybe it's just my natural desire to be awkward, but I'm kinda liking this setup. the fingers on my left hand will naturally fall onto the macro keys, my thumb to adjust the throttle... my only gripe is that this could REALLY use a touchscreen if possible, and a drop down menu on it so a commander or scout can quickly select an area on the map and issue an order fluidly. But if it adds more than £50 to the price tag I'm sure I could find a way to live without it

My suggestions for the artemis

Do not make a new screen, Its going to make this far to expensive, Most people have a tablet computer, just make an app for ios/andriod, and let people use what they already have in place of the screen you would provide, it will be far more powerful and functional
people will get a kick out of being able to use there ipad/tablets/iphones if you can use more than one even better ;)
also it will probably be a lot more profitable selling the apps

it would be nice if the unit is modular, so you can have the set up you prefer, eg 2 joysticks, the joystick also needs to be usable in both hands, something like a saitek cyborg v1, I can see alot of people making custom desk/simpits for this so easily extendable wires between each unit is a must (mini usb?)
