i know you guys will need and want all the data you possibly can for testing but on behalf of everyone IM BEGGING YOU.

DO NOT REPEAT THE TOURMALINE WEEK OF HORROR!!!

just give it the same rotational chance as the rest of the maps, im sure day one that map is out your playerbase is going to at least double from all the old players coming back to check out the new map. So you will get all the data you need very quickly.

if you absolutely have too though, at least have mercy on us and give at least one other map (community fav maybe have a poll for it) that you set its occurance rate just as high. so we arent all playing the same map 10+ times in a row.

feel free to agree/disagree, im sure most people feel the same but if you dont speak your peace.

If it has the same chance as other maps it is even less likely to be played due to the increased numbers of maps. I remember how much people complained that they didn't get to play on Alpine when it came out, and it had better odds because it had 2 fewer maps in rotation. Even if they kept it at the same weighting as Tourmaline it will still come up less frequently. And they really do need to open beta test any new maps, imagine how much longer Tourmaline issues would have carried on if it hadn't been tested so heavily.

As for weighting a second map, bad idea as you've just massively increased the restriction on what maps you play on, and for a map that only a minority will actually prefer. At least new maps are an exploration for all.

why did you have to bring logic in here....

as long as i dont see the same map 10 times in a row and have it be at the top of my most played in 2 days of playtime ill be fine. but if there is no other way ill just have to spend this weekend very drunk.... and that gets interesting lol

Personally, I like seeing the new maps more often, though I do think the map selector needs to be more random, or at least force a different map after a few games in a row on the same one... admittedly, with 16 players per game, who knows how easy it is to do since what's a new map for me might be the 4th game in a row on that map for some other guy.

I can see weighting a new map for a higher appearance in the rotation, BUT.
Looking at my stats, the 2 newest maps comprise more than 25% of the matches I've played. That's a bit much considering I played for a few months before the new maps arrived.
Maybe don't give the Canyon map as heavy an adjustment this time?

Prior to Alpine and Tourmaline (before their weighted new maps) the typical forum cry was "I've played 15 matches and haven't see the new map!"... :(

no most people complained because they played the map almost 100 times in a matter of a week.

Also heat effects every weapon not ust PPC's only weapons that arent hurt by heat are gauss, ac/5 and UAC/5 those ones barely cause any heat. oh and machine guns we cant forget those fearsome weapons of mass destruction!

I want to see it more frequently than other maps, but only a little bit more, and only for two weeks.

I'll settle for the new map not being yet another one like Tourmaline and Alpine peaks, where a lone light can turn a 5 minute game it cannot possibly win into a 15 minute game that it cannot possibly win.

I'm good with a moderate rotation boost. It's the 10th map, so bump it up to 20% probability for a few weeks

or until they fix the first 50 surface flaws that trap you, and then drop you into infinity after you're killed...

Unless that's what they did with Tourmaline, in which case I propose 15%.

Would be nice if they weighted it to just two weeks.

Well under map stats my lowest map played is river city 94 matches and my high is forest at 115 matches and all others maps are between these but 2. Alpine comes in at 189 matches and Tourmaline 213.

I'd like to see the new map a bit more often (i didn't see alpine for a 3 or 4 days after patchday). But just a week or two, after that, normal rotation.

Looking at my map stats, alpine and tourmaline are nearly two times as often(103/108) as the rest (which is pretty balanced, 45-65).

I just hope the new map is not that boring like the other two new maps...

But... they need to test things. It's why they write beta everywhere.

I don't mind. I liked tourmaline, and even if I didn't, I would still appreciate more time with it to get to know it. I felt that way about golf. Despised the game, but persevered because there was an amazing girl at our course who even more amazingly was in to me, despite the fact that I destroyed more golf clubs in white hot rage than a golf club... destroying... machine.... but it was all worth it for that time in the sand trap on the 8th, heh, and... that's why golf is awesome.

While I don't mind Tourmaline as a map, and don't care for Alpine, Canyons needs to be weighted a bit less highly. It's ridiculous that Alpine and Tourmaline, despite having been in the system for a lot less time, are way higher numbers on the "Maps" tab of my stats section. The only other one that even comes close is River City.
