I would like to hear if anyone in the community thinks they have experienced this or if this is a known issue. Both myself and a friend of mine believe we have experienced this.
I could have swore it just happened recently. It was very early in the game, I was rushing to a cap when I encountered 2 enemy mechs. I was shot while facing both of them and died almost instantly. I don't believe it was an ammo explosion, amazing upfront DPS, or anything similar. This was a death from losing my right torso piece with an XL engine. All of my front pieces had only slight armor missing (yellow and slightly orange with armor still on) but the right torso was gone and registered as destroyed from the rear. I'm absolutely sure no one was behind me at the time of my death.
My friend told me a similar story where he came up on a mech, was getting shot at from the front and his reticule was saying rear hit, this happened to him for an entire game, he would turn and nobody would be there. It even happened while I was close by and watching him and I informed him that nobody was behind him.
These hits seem to be coming from the front but doing more damage because the game is registering them as rear hits where a player generally has less armor.
So what's the deal? Has anyone else noticed this or believe that it may have happened to them?
Other unresolved issue from this patch:
Dual Monitor Problems (Posted about this before, the game acts like it isn't open, allowing my mouse will go over into my other monitor, which then alt tabs me)

This has been happening since the very first days of open beta. Is is caused by a few things, namely:
Lag- the discrepancy between where you think you are and where the other person sees you.
Hitboxes- There are places that the common sense of most players would agree is on the 'back' that count as the front on almost every mech. A great example is the Hunchback; only a tiny little square counts as the rear hunch, but the entire sides and most of the back count as front armor.
Subsections- damage gets applied through a poorly-understood mechanic where it is applied to subsections of the mech instead of traditional hitboxes. Sometimes these seem to stretch around parts of the mech, and they were the root cause of the missiles dealing way too much splash damage.
In short, there are no fixes coming soon and this has been going on for a long long time.

Hi guys,
the issue is being looked into on a mech by mech basis. Please submit a support ticket to support@mwomercs.com if you notice outstanding issues in specific mech types!
Cheers

Rear Components Damage Transfer Bug [Resolved]
BUG : When rear armor is gone, less damage than should be would be transferred to the front components. And if Arms and side torsos were already destroyed less of the damage that hit the destroyed component locations would transfer into the center torso.
NOTES : Thanks to the community (http://mwomercs.com/...w-in-this-patch) we were able to track down a pretty major issue. Less damage was being taken in the back essentially what this works out to with explosive weapons. And too much with lasers. We were able to fix the bug quickly once we found it, but it will take a while to see if our weapon balancing was based on bad results.
Also this issue has been there since the damage systems initial development.
DURATION : 2h
ESTIMATED PATCH : February 5th 2013
