The various apologetics towards capitalist dogma and attacks on the OP's lack of patience doesn't change the fact that both the patterns and colors are way overpriced, and they don't look anything like they do in the Mechlab on any map. Whose brilliant idea was it to display your mech as if it were in a closet with some guy holding a flashlight anyway? Ridiculously dark and irrelevant view that relates to nothing seen in the game...except perhaps the night maps when everyone has night or heat vision on and won't see your damned mech anyway!
So the maximum price of a standard and very unnecessary permanent one-time-purchase paint in a non-pay-to-win game of $2.78 when there are in-game-purchasable-paints available for free is capitalist dogma and overpriced?
Have you seen the price of a half gallon of milk? Or cheese? And those are not permanent. Colors are not necessary to play or to win. Even then you can get free colors. Would you prefer that PPCs only be sold to people willing to pay 30 dollars for them? Or Gauss Rifles becoming 20 dollars?
- On Mabinogi, a pet that grows old and dies in 3 weeks is 14 dollars. Its only benefit is to carry items for you and to help you out when you have no friends.
- On Combat Arms, a perm pistol is 10 dollars. Or you can spend 4 to play with it for 30 days. A perm sniper rifle is 30 dollars. However, to even have a slight chance of enjoyment of the game, you must have at least one paid for sniper rifle, one assault rifle, one pistol, and 2 or 3 20 dollar machine guns just to be able to have fun in the game. That comes out to $125 dollars just to be able to consistently enjoy the game. In fact if you're interested, I have an account with over 1,000 dollars worth of guns on it which was required just for the game to even continue to be fun for me. The company never did much of anything about hackers. When I submitted bug reports, nothing was done. The bugs I reported still exist. Map exploits are common. The company doesn't listen and every support ticket gets an automatic reply. I'd be willing to sell that account to you just to get 250 dollars. Paying that much required to make the game fun. Pathetic, isn't it? Especially since that company didn't listen to the community.
- Gold Ammo is now available on World of Tanks. From what I'm told this costs a minor fortune per shell, and allows you to one shot almost any enemy player. Joy!
Do you have to pay for paint to have fun? No. Besides, you can't even see your own paint. There's nothing forcing you to buy it. The alternative is forcing you to pay monthly or adopting one of the schemes above.
Compare this pay for decoration system with most free to play games that charge you in order to get things that you can't have in any other way, and the prices are beyond fair to allow people like yourself to play for free.
To afford some paint simply skip
one of the following:
that Monster Energy Drink, that 5 Hour Energy, that pack of cigarettes, that cup of coffee on the go, that quarter pounder with cheese or whatever little thing you buy that you don't need and doesn't last more than a minute.

Now, there is a concession to be made here. A "light" on / off function would be nice when choosing paints to show what it would look like in a brighter setting. However I already saw something about that getting the reply "UI 2.0." So they already know about it.
