I seem to have lost the in game voice, I can live with no 'weapons, sensors or reactor online' and 'all systems nominal' but it doesn't tell me when I am overheating, when I have bases captured, when my base is acptured or critical damage which are surprisingly important.
any ideas?

I'm assuming you still hear weapon and damage sounds and such when in-match.
Did you change any of the volume controls in Options? Effects and Dialog should be maxed, and Music should be about 2/3 of max (those are the defaults).
If that doesn't work, you may need to un-install and reinstall the game.
