21. Count them, 21. TWENTY ONE double heatsinks.

And this pile of **** still overheats with 3x ppc's in chain fire.

Absolute joke that a mech of this size and power cannot cope with even modest heat, despite being stacked out with heatsinks.

I tried using missiles to give a break to the heat generated by energy, but i'd probably do more damage by throwing cabbage at the enemy.

maybe your mech is defective, exchange for a new one ;). never actually done the math how many heatsinks per weapon would you actually need to keep it running cool.

30 heat every 4 seconds.... Now even IF your double heatsinks sank 42 per 10 seconds(they don't) what would happen?

Here is a hint... 75 - <40=>35 heat...

PPC's or ER PPC's?

And no, you literally can't do continuous fire on anything in this game unless your severely gimping your fire power.

Also, you do know, that traveling at 100% throttle negates 1 DHS Right?

Also, you do know, that right now, there is no heat penalty for firing two or more weapons at a time? So chain firing doesn't really lower your heat generation in a given time frame ... it just allows you to "ride the red line" a bit easier.

I have to say it's hard to find any sympathy for your not being able chainfire three of the currently best weapon in all eternity.

I'd rather he be able to chain fire 3 PPC's, thus causing spread out damage due to movement, than having people alpha 4 of them.

But that's just me.

You're doing it wrong. The biggest advantage of PPC is full damage on one location. If you chain fire with them, you disperse their damage, and make them sub-optimal compared to a large laser. Throw your 3 PPC and replace them with 4 LL, and it will be better.

Image that your mech has just one giant weapon: Would you prefer a PPC that fire 30 damage at once, or one PPC that fire 3 times 10 damage over 1 second? Any smart player would go with the first choice.

As for the heat, well... Just because a bunch of sore players on this forum make it looks like PPC are godlike weapons and need a nerf, doesn't mean that they don't have a really signifiant drawback...

If you know how to aim, it's not that difficult. I use 4 PPC's on an Awesome 8Q and the rest of the space is all DHS. It works fine, except for the silly min-range and not being able to turn off the field inhibitor.

These posts... quite humorous from the OP.

Had no problems with 3 PPC with 20 DHS... plus I had more in the Stalker to boot.

Nerf the OP.

I've finally decided, it;s the worst mech in its class. The highlander and atlas outclass it at every stage.

With the current heat levels, you would need 26 standard heat sinks to complete counter the heat of a single PPC fired at its full recycle rate.

But you don't usually need to do anywhere close that much, as the 3+ PPC Stalkers and Highlanders prove. The trick is running it all on heat capacity and then standing back in cover for a long time. As the enemy approaches you, you can put 60-120 damage into him, and if he doesn't get really close really fast, this will be an advantage he can never compensate. And if he approaches fast and gets close fast, if you have team mates with a similar loadout, your team will score kills way before the enemy can get close enough to do the same, meaning you gain a numerical advantage.

That's why I say - half heat capacity*, double dissipation. Then you can't alpha more than 3 PPCs easily, and have to chain-fire, making it more difficult to keep precision and requiring you to either expose yourself longer for the same damage, or accept that you deal less damage before the enemy can get close.

*) Or any other significant reduction of heat capacity. A Fixed value of 30 would work. 1/2 the current would work. Maybe harsh heat penalties starting at 1/3 of the current value could work. But it's important to raise heat dissipation as well, otherwise PPCs will simply be useless again.

I have 22 in my 3PPC Awesome, and the overheating is fine. Stellar in fact.

You can't spam them forever. Couple of alphas, switch to chain. 3 are capable of monsterous DPS to pinpoint locations. There is absolutely nothing broken there. Nothing that requires changing. Nothing. Nothiiiiiiiing.

Heatsinks do not increase the heat capacity by much, only the cooling. If you're chain firing then you're not cooling since your heat level is constantly getting increased.

PPCs are front-loaded damage weapons. Fire them all at once and the time in between shots your heat level will drop.

With 21 DHS you would be better off using large lasers in chain fire. The LL heat is a few points under the dissipation rate of 21 DHS so you would actually benefit from chain fire with those weapons. The heat WILL build up but you can keep firing far longer.

Oh, one found out that those "No Brain", "Skillless" PPC Stalkers have to manage Heat like no other Mech? Congratulations!

Now imagine how Heat is with 6 PPC Builds!
And then call them Easy Mode again....

That explains why a Stalker pilot won a recent tourney (Highlander vs World)...

Oh wait...
