I am tired, too, but by another thing.

I am tired by the sheer amount of flawed and illogical diagnostics of what's wrong with MWO. You want an example? Take the current "weapon are fine, boating them isn't" theory. If said weapons are balanced, submitting them to a simple multiplication won't create an unbalance out of the void. You can't have "fine * X = OP". In math terms, it translate into affirming that 1x5=7. Ludicrous.

***snip***

I don't think this is a math problem that's going to be solved by balancing a spread sheet (neckbeards with spreadsheets are apparently the leading edge of the problem). Some things just feel wrong, chiefly because they defy a person's reasonable expectations.

My reasonable expectation is that TT mechs should work okay, maybe they're not optimal, but they're not entirely useless. That is obviously nowhere near true and (IMO) it's because the dev's have strayed away from the core material (I think they do not know quite what to do with it) [edit: apparently in an attempt to please people who do not particularly like the core IP].

This is not to say that I could make a better game, but it is to say that the deviations from the core IP tend to make me disappointed. I don't, for example, mind getting my *** kicked while driving a centurion, except that it mostly happens in ways that the core IP wouldn't usually allow for (for example, pop-tarting).

IMO, they should have made MWO an arena game if they were going to allow ridiculous customization and battlefield ineffective battlemechs. Then pretty much no one could complain about the result and, at least in my case, expectations of what mechs could or would do would be better met (e.g. poptarting? no, no one would do that in battle because of artillery and fighter strikes, but there is no artillery here on Solaris, is there.)

Since they have purported to produce a wargame set in a particular universe I do have a right to complain about deviations from it; especially ones that produce lame game play.

Stone, here's some numbers for you.

Apparently 108,000 people participated in the Assault vs the World tourny.

Now...

...I had a friend do 5 rounds on day 7 in heavy category of the recent Spring Clean 'Em Up tourny, and requested that he play as poorly as possible without appearing completely useless/afk. His five rounds gave him a weekly heavy score of 65 (for reference mine was 4,103 for 6th place and Koreanese was like 4,650 for 1st). This guy placed around 4000th. With 5 rounds of about 40 damage and 1 assist, no kills, dead.

Heavies, in my eyes, was also the most competitive and probably popular category in the tourny.

Tells you something... I think...

Make this thread what it should be.

It needs a poll.

your point makes absolutely no sense you say a 1080000 participated seems like pretty healthy numbers and definitely no clue what I'm but I do thank you for making my point for me people love this game the only people who don't like it cry on the forums because they can handle the gatme

...ummm, that was for a previous tournament... a while ago... in comparison to a tournament that ended a week ago...

...to give a little context into my comment about the playerbase being smaller than it used to be or at least less active...

...this should be obvious...

...if you're questioning whether or not i love this game or can handle it, lolling pretty hard.

ps - at least make an effort to read...

Or rather, data for one and unconfirmable anecdotes for the other. And people who neeled anecdotes to prove their stance know they dont have a leg to stand on.

I don't need anecdotes to prove my stance, it's my experience in the game, backed up with pretty rational and easy to find numbers, if my experience didn't exist or these numbers weren't there, I wouldn't have said it in the first place. You can read or talk to people who say "yeah man this TS used to be full of groups, now it's day after a patch and only a few groups on" but all that type of stuff can be attributed to provinciality or perspective. It's not difficult to imagine a lot of players are now in merc corps or have stratified naturally as the game has progressed into respective niches. But it also makes it more difficult to accurately gauge these things, killing off General Discussion is another example of that.

All I'm saying is in my personal experience, I have played thousands of matches, seen numbers, seen the community changes, seen 4 or 5 rounds in a row against the same guys, seen other peoples anecdotes, all this stuff to me shows that the numbers are down. Look at 8mans. Ask clans why they are still actively recruiting even though they are all rock solid players (hint, inactives are bored). Ponder why so many people are MIA until CW rolls out. Read all the threads from pissed off players at any point in the meta who have not returned.

I am a fanboy, I've supported the game monetarily as have you, we all have right to criticize things or question them, and I try and defend this game at every legitimate opportunity. But I can't honestly say that the activity of the game is higher than it was a month or 6 ago, in my experience or in the numbers I've run across.

Personal experiencesARE anecdotes. /facepalm. Some people just dont understand words, and when they dont it makes all their opinions stated as facts pointlwss and unnecessary.

No youre 108000 was spot on. Youre personal experience as the only evidence for the second numbers is where the problem lies. Do I need to use smaller words or something?

So what you've been trying to say is that you don't think my numbers would lead to an accurate estimation of the amount of people playing right now?

It's not difficult, go take a stats class or something. It would take you less time to figure out your own estimation of the numbers currently active than it did trying to talk semantics in your past couple posts.

What is this you're getting at anyways? I hope you realize my point was that the population has been decreasing as a result of the playerbase being unsatisfied with the current balanced state of the game, the progression of its development, or those that don't want to burn out as a result of lack of content. This is obvious to anyone who actually plays the game and/or has the slightest clue of whats going on with the game, its community, and the present meta, instead of forum warrioring.

your so called evidence, the number of your friends rank and such is not necessarily how many people there were in the tournament. you have no idea what that number represents. you just assume that that's the number of people who opted not to mention the fact not everybody who plays mwo opted in. because I did not. and then when I prove you wrong you turn to insults.classy.
